Title: Loading dose with glucosamine

I have been giving Alice Noractive sachets every day for about a month - I mix it in her food and no problems with her eating it. I also have a box of Seraquin upstairs that are a slightly higher dose and also mention giving a loading dose initially - I plan on trying to use the pill crusher and seeing if she will take those in food as well. There is no mention of a loading dose on the Noractive pack - I just wondered what the score is?

Its double for cosequin and the same for any herbal potions the horses had so odd they dont claim it too

I will have another look. I hope the last months-worth hasn't been a waste. The problem is, I give it to her is a small amount of tinned salmon as she alsways eats it all whereas she only eats 1/2 a pouch or so thesedays at regular intervals  :evillaugh: - I remember when Alice used to scoff anything put in front of her  :evillaugh:

It depends on the cat's weight, according to the pack I have.  I'll have a look later for you (the pack and I are parted at the moment  ;)).

I checked the Noractive box again and there is nothing. It just says 1 sachet per day for cats and small dogs  :Crazy:

I've checked the Cosequin container and for a cat weighing less than 5kg, the loading dose and the maintenance dose are both 125mg of glucosamine per day.  For cats weighing more than 5kg, the loading dose is 250mg for 4 - 6 weeks followed by 125mg per day.

I have some Cosequin that she refused last year and now I have a pill crusher, I am thinking of trying her on them again when the Norvet runs out rather than waste them - I'm just surprised one brand recommends loading ans another doesn't  :Crazy:

can you not mix the cosequin well into the food? ie not just sprinkle it on but really mix it in.  I've never known a refusal so I don't think it can taste of much, if anything. Max eats a lot, but is mega fussy and if it tasted funny, he'd refuse.

I think mark meant seraquin as they are tablets he can crush up...
I also find cosequin easily accepted, i bought it as its the only supplement i could find that is tasteless
