Title: Snow cats!
Post by: Debsymiller (Rufus' mum) on February 02, 2009, 08:46:28 AM
Although Oscar has met snow before, Jasper and Rufus had their first snow experience this morning! Jasper was more reserved about it and not 100% sure but Rufus LOVED it! He was pouncing, digging, eating, swiping and all other manner of things! Was so cute to see. His little name barrell on his safety collar even got covered and formed a nice little snowball under his chin! hehe

Lovely! Keep the snow cats coming! Which one is your black cat with the red collar? Very striking against the white snow. I take it Rufus is the tabby who is having a ball? They don't seem to mind wet paws for once when it snows do they?

Anyone built themselves a snowcat yet instead of a snowman?  ;D

Black cat is my Oscar. He likes the snow for a little while but once he's explored he likes to be back in the warm. Rufus as you can see was LOVING it!

Thought I would add some of Flynn - it is the first real snow experience for him. Unfortunately, Mitzi and Blacken are so black that is is really hard to get a photo of them against the snow.

Well Dave has watched it and stuck his nose in a Chilli footprint but was not for going out there himself, not even with a gentle nudge of the bum from me.

Chilli went for a wander on the balcony but I suspect this was more about making the most of being allowed out after her disappearance and less about enjoying the snow. I had to bring her in after she was trying to escape down the drainpipe outlet from the balcony :evillaugh:

Cannot comprehend......

I sit here yearning for summer (we normally don't get spring. Maybe one day that could be called such every 5 years or so but otherwise.....) and you all are enjoying snow.  Hey! You can have mine!

Seriously, I heard about the snow 'storm' there on the news overnight and wondered about you all. Glad it is bringing happiness and the wonders of new discoveries.

Should you want to discover more, you are still more than welcomed to have my snow. So long as you take the perishing cold with it (today's "high" is to be -39C. That's actually 'warm'. Last week it was -50.)  Sigh.........

THANK your gang for giving me back a little of the wonder. One forgets........

Glad to be of service DM! ;D It is hard, I imagine, in your climate to remember that wonder at the sight of falling snow - but we never get to enjoy the splendour of that first spring wakening which, to you, must evoke that same sense of wondrous delight - temporarily masking the memory of the mud and slush to follow ...

Ah, but my dear BC........

We don't get spring. Nor mud and slush. We go directly from those words I am absolutely certain this forum would not allow winter to the drought (generally) of summer.

Spring never wakes here. Winter ends (oh, please Lord, let it end!) and with a rush all things fling themselves out of the ground. So as to avoid being frozen by the early frosts, don't ya know...........

Given the choice, I'll opt for summer.

Looks like they're enjoying themselves  :Luv2: Tweak the contrast a bit and Jasper would look like a few pebbles in the snow  :evillaugh:

I'm dreading the thaw already - mine have completely missed their two kitty loo-holes in the patio, and think covering their leavings with snow will do the trick - and so it does, but not for long

  My bridge baby Rosie did that during a prolonged period of snow.  When it thawed there were little presents all the way down the drive.
