size? Probably just marketting - some dog owners hate cats and vice versa so the need to differentiate ...

Its the size. The Catit is suitable for small dogs and puppies. The Dogit is larger to accommodate larger dogs (though I think they make 2 sizes).

Jackspratt from my experience I prefer the Fresh and Clear catit fountain to the dome type it is much easier to clean and holds more water

This is the one i got and it's fab they do the filters too
