Title: Can a spayed female still show signs of being in heat?
Post by: clarenmax on February 22, 2007, 11:04:24 AM
I'll be the first to admit that I know nothing about female cats as Max is the first cat I've owned.

However I'm doing a spot of cat-sitting for my neighbours little girl Freda (see general thread), and having read other threads about cats in heat, I'm curious .............

I'm assuming she's been 'done' as she is allowed out, and at approx 1.5 years has not had a litter.

Thing is, she is rolling around on the floor a lot, and them lying with her bum in the air, kind of treading the floor iwith her back legs if that makes sense.  She's not calling or making any noises, just the chirriping noises she seems to make all of the time.

Can a spayed female still show some of the signs even if she's been 'done'?

There is another topic on here about the same thing and it says the spay might not be complete, I don't know anything about this just reading what it said on other post.

Oh bum, sorry for duplicating!  Haven't been on here as much lately, too busy at work!

Will have a look thru.

It is not unknown for a female to have 2 uterus I would certainly have a word with the vet.

This is the conclusion...

The cat had been spayed but they'd left a random ovary in which was causing her to be in season!

That is classic "in season" behaviour -
especially "lying with her bum in the air, kind of treading the floor iwith her back legs"
Ask your neighbour if she HAS been done

I defo will ask when they get back at the weekend.

I do have the number for their vets, but I'm guessing that I wouldn't get any joy out of them if I tried to ring them with my concerns....

Aw, glad she's OK.

Strange she's showing heat type behaviour  :Dont know:, be interesting to see what the vet suggests about that
