ALF?
That really made me lol!
I'd guess Rex of some type :)
-
They are brilliant arnt they......just love the ears :Luv2:
I have emailed the person just to ask what they are....but at £350 each she can keep them :evillaugh:
-
Blimey, I thought Dave had ears to grow into!
Something curiously endearing about them though isn't there?
-
Yes I'd say a Rex or some sort - I just adore Rex breeds :Luv2:
-
Aawwwww! They're so cute- like lil gremlins! Definately cute but did make me chuckle!!!
-
Id guess at what i call badly bred siamese, i like the old type. Or maybe oriental shorthairs. Odd markings on them...
-
Some kind of ORiental breed - hard to tell if they are curly enough for REx's, although not sure Rex's come in that pattern, I thought they were a solid coloured breed. There is a chance they are a mix, although not that much cheaper than a Rex, the Rex society told me last year about £375 for one.

See attached piccy! :) Definitely a Devon Rex, it's a picture from a breed profile.
-
Cheers - I know Sphynx's come in patterns. I could have actually just walked downstairs and looked in the cat book!!
-
:evillaugh: Why do that when you've got the tinternet! ;)
-
the tinternet!
Oh my, I have just realised how daft I am. I remember asking a man how do I contact him and he said, the tinternet, I thought what on earth is that  Can I just say this was about 3 years ago :evillaugh:

Sorry to burst the "eureka bubble" ladies... :evillaugh:
They're Oriental Bicolours. :) A relatively new-ish breed here in the UK, but have run into them at shows. They have full championship status with TICA and I believe are at Intermediate stage with the GCCF.
-
I think these are Orientals or Oriental crosses, their fur does not look that "crinkly" but quite smooth in those piccies. I know when orientals are young they have huge ears.

Edited to say: Great minds think alike Witty.

It's alright Witty, it was a guess! :) Thanks for telling us - they're a funny looking bunch aren't they?!

I was close then

Is that not an Havana Brown?
(which for some time I thought was a type of spider :-[)

Yes, that's a Havana Brown. In real life, the colour is really stunning.

I'd imagine you'd incurr a fair deal of wrath if you'd come up with that quote at a show... :evillaugh: Modern Siamese are that shape, the really extreme ones do look like aliens. The thing is, the head is supposed to form an equliateral triangle between the ear tips and the end of the nose, but in accentuating the slenderness of the cat and thus elongating the nose, the ears have had to drop down to the side of the head and increase in size. Hence the ability to take off in a good gale... :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
Actually, Siamese come in three different flavours these days; Modern (which is what you see on the show bench), Classic (who are quite wedgy and slinky but middle of the road, more like an Oriental) and Old-Style (which are quite rounded). The latter two types can't be shown, but they are available.
-
I was going to say the ears look bigger than any Rex I've seen before but see they are a newish breed to UK.
I've never seen ears that big before (well on a cat anyway). Are they as mischievous as Rex?

Il never be going to one so i dont need to bite my tongue :evillaugh: siamese and persians seem to have been messed around with so much :sigh:
Gillian pointed me awhile back to a site of original persians and you wouldnt recognise them along side todays offerings

I think that the Kennel Club have re-drafted the specs for a number of breeds of dog, following all the hoo-ha surrounding last year's Crufts. I wonder if and when there will be similar pressures brought to bear with certain breeds of cat.

the kennel club came under a lot of pressure last year after a programme was aired showing the disturbing breeding of some types of dog. the bbc has withdrawn from showing Crufts this year. maybe there should be a programme about cat breeding to highlight the problems.
i had a look at pics of modern siamese cats but i prefer the old type personally. the modern ones look too "messed with"
-
OMG they are gorgeous ... Bat Cats!!!
-
Didn't Pedigree leave Crufts for the same reason?
-
yep, pedigree withdrew their sponsership for the same reason

-
This is my Leo and i think he is a traditional Siamese type dont you think?
-
Pedigree didn't leave for that reason. They've been withdrawing sponsorship from all shows for the past few years. It's purely financial reasons .. they want to spend the money on their own campaigns
Also, the BBC are reconsidering covering Crufts http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2009/jan/14/bbc-crufts-dog-show-coverage
As for Siamese, I must say I do love the modern look. I wasn't so keen at first by looking at pictures, but after seeing them in person I've become totally smitten. I realise they aren't everyones cup of tea but I personally find them to be gorgeous and would love to be owned by one in the future :Luv:
