And still there seems no reduction in the number of pregnant cats we are hearing about.

The only comfort you can take Ela is that there would have been many more if the money hadnt spent....So it must be doing some good

I think i am right in saying we spent nearly 9000 which  is no where near the amount that Ela has.. but the area we cover does at least know about neutering so some owners actually do bother to get their cats to the vets. Our vet is also very reasonable with costs female spay is around 35/40 quid which always has an impact on our budget of course. ..

Well done you anyhow.. thats alot of vouchers

And aching hands writing them,  ;D especially when sometimes I may have to write over 100 at a time.

My goodness that seems a lot,  round here it is between £26 (cheapo vet I would not take a dying flea) to about £43 for a spay and between £20 and £32 for a neuter

Thats just for us, our foster cats or strays we agree to neuter.. The vet probably charges another tenner or so for the public. One vets we use charge us 21 i think for males and 35 for females but for the general public he charges over 80 quid. Which brings me to the point that its no wonder some people dont bother.. And what an earth are we getting for 35 quid that the public are getting for 80 quid.. its daft!!

I am not the neutering office (lovely Sally is) but calls come through to me and we pass them on. Although all emails do go through to Sally.. But generally we do like to see if people can contribute something towards the cost if we pay for the full amount if only a fiver.. We compromise.. however we do help other rescues as well (small independant ones) and we do give out yellow vouchers if the need is great..and we do deal with alot of ferals that we TNR...But yes.. it has taken us several years to get those prices though...
