Title: Kitten has diarrhea - can fleas cause this?
Post by: kittykat on February 19, 2007, 13:19:39 PM
Our 14 week old kitten has fleas (we're treating her with stronghold)

This morning she pooed on our bed (not sure if this is down to her being ill or litter training problems - she poos on our bed every now and then!)

But it was diarrhea.  Can fleas cause diarrhea?  Or is likely to be another sort of bug causing this?

Shes playing quite happily and seems fine in herself.

thanks

Worms can and if a cat/kitten has fleas most certainly it has tapeworms, Perhaps you could take the little one to the vets for a MOT cats and especially kittens cannot be allowed to have diarrhea as they can become very dehydrated very quickly and that in turn can be life threatening.

Thank you for your reply.

She is being wormed every 3 weeks so is it still possible she could have worms?

I will keep an eye on her and if the diarrhea continues over the next day or two i'll take her back down to the vet.

Thanks.

One of mine gets the runs when they have had stronghold ? Why does she need to be wormed every 3 weeks ?

Hope she recovers soon xxx
