I am terrified as Sofa is not good, she has serious renal disease and has been fine on perm drugs for a while now but the last few days has been going more and more down hill. Vets at 6pm tonight.
I am terrified because of loosing Vesti a few weeks ago - it feels like its going the way of 2 cats for 2 babies! :'(
Sofa is my oldest cat and the one I have had for the loongest and gone through so much with.

I am so scared and just feel that they may suggest her being PTS and of course I will as cannot see her suffering an dknew this day would come soon but loosing 2 cats in 1 month I just don't know how I will cope.

Try to keep positive hun, it may just be an adjustment to medication which is required :hug:
I'll keep fingers and toes crossed for you hun, and although we will say try not to worry, we know that's not possible, so we'll share your worry out between us and pray for a good outcome tonight :hug:

Try not to worry too much, it could be a case of a simple steroid jab perking her up :hug: Will have everything crossed for her :hug:

I know its easy for me to talk but try not to worry yourself too much,wait until you have your vets appointment tonight,hope somebody is going with you,thinking of you and Sofa :hug:

She is becoming faecel and urine incontinent though, I just hopes it not her oragns shutting down.

Well its not good.
Sofa had to be PTS. A couple of years ago she lost a large percentage of her sight when she had a cerebral hemorrhage, this all coincided with her renal failure but she managed well with her meds and with her partial sight and would tear around the garden like a fully sighted well cat. Over the last few days she had become fecal and urine incontinent.
Today the vet looked straight into her eyes with their gadget and said straight away she had had another massive cerebral hemorrhage and it was not good.
Sofa was PTS tonight. :'(
I have been waiting for this day for a while now and have been blessed to have her for so long with managing her illnesses.
Sofa came from the Mayhew Animal Hospital. I walked in and said to them who has been here the longest and who can you not rehomed - they took me to Sofa. She had been found cowering behind a sofa with her kittens after being abandoned by her owners. She had receieved eye injuries and head injuries and was in a bad way but the Mayhew Animal Hospital got her better. Because Sofa was very nervous of people because of what she had gone through she needed a lot of work and at the time I was not working and so spent the first 6 months able to be with her day and night slowly getting her to trust me. I look her on 15 years ago and in those 15 years she became my princess. She was my special polydactyl cat.
I have been in bits tonight and even though for months have been preparing for loosing her its still not been easy, also because I lost Sylvester only a few weeks ago.
It does seem like 2 of my cats have gone to make way for my twins and right now that hurts as I want my furbabies back and right now hating my pregnancy.
I miss my Sofa and I miss my Vesti, I just feel so empty. From 7 cats to now 5 in a short space of time - its so unfair.

I am so sorry to hear this, but I dont think it is connected to your pregnancy in anyway. Sadly we know when we get certain diagnosis's that we are on borrowed time with them, but you gave her a wonderful time and she will be forever grateful for that, and you allowed her to go peacefully to save her suffering further. RIP little one

I'm so sorry Mrs R, definitely take care of yourself and try not to connect your pregnancy too much to losing your furbabes, it was their time to go. From what you have written about Sofa coming into your life, it is clear that you gave her a wonderful life and a dignified journey to the bridge. She was as lucky to have you as you were her.

Im so sorry to hear about Sofa :'( i know exactly what your going through from my own experience with my babes and all i can say is please take care of yourself and dont let this take away from the twins, from the sound of it she had a wonderful life with you and now shes with Vesti and he will take care of her till your ready to meet again, try to celebrate their lives and think how much love was given to them and when it came to it you did the right thing and didnt let either one suffer, you let them go with dignity, take care : :hug: :hug: :hug:

Oh Nikki, Im so sorry hunnie I really dont know what to say :(
I know its especially hard loosing a furbabe whilst pregnant, and I did end up feeling like I had "traded" one for the other and thought I would rather keep what I already had at that time. But I realised nothing was going to bring my furry friend back and you have to try to look after yourself.

I am so very very sorry. How difficult a time you have had but you know in your heart of hearts that you made the bravest and most unselfish decision. Can you see it another way>? I understand you have been trying to have a baby for a while and maybe your cats stayed round long enough to see you well into your pregnancy because they loved you so much they wanted you to be happy. It is difficult enough losing one cat but to lose two so close together must be devastating. You have given them both wonderful lives and you did the best by them at the end. :hug:

sounds like you gave Sofa a wonderful life and in the end that is all any of us can hope for - I can understand how you feel about the babies but you haven't traded anything its just the way it has worked out - take care of yourself

You gave your Princess an amazing life, but sadly it was her time to go, and you gave her the greatest gift in letting her go peacefully. Sofa will already have met up with Vesti on the bridge, they will keep each other company until you see them again, and I'm sure they've met up with the other Purrs bridge babes as well :hug:
Please don't think that they have passed on to make way for the twins hunnie, I know you're hurting at the moment, but you've got to focus on you and the babies, so look after yourself :hug: :hug: :hug:

I am so so sorry Hun and know what you are going through - we lost Roxy and Amber is the space of 4 weeks around this time last year and the empy feeling was almost too much to bear. :hug:

Oh Mrs R I am so sorry to read this.
A close friend of mine went though simular last Jan she lost her beloved Amber when she was only a few weeks pregnant and I remember her saying exactly the same as you have.

Oh My God - I am so sorry. I can only imagine how you feel. Loosing 2 in such a small space of time doesn't seem fair but there is a reason for everything that happens in life and it must have been time for them both to go to the Bridge and play there together.
I'm crying so many tears for you and I wish I had a magic wand. Sofa and Sylvester know you did your very best for them both and you have to look after yourself and those babies.

I can't believe you have had to face losing both of them in such a short time. I am so sorry.
I can understand why you are feeling so low at the moment and thinking of the twins but just try to think of all the great times ahead of you with your beautiful babies and that Sofa and Sylvester will be watching from the Bridge and guarding over you and the Babies. They are together now running and chasing with no health problems to hold them back. xx

Words fail me and life does indeed seem to cruel for words sometimes. You gave Sofa and Vesti the best life and without you and OH's love and care Sofa would of had a much shorter life.

Although it seems you have let two furbabies go to get two babies in return it's just coincidence hun. Your human babies will of course each have a very special feline guardian angel to watch over them now though and I have no doubt the both Vest and Sofa will repay you for all the love and kindness you showed them by fulfilling their guardian duties to the max.

I am trying to change my thought process to Sofa and Vesti are now guardian angels for the twins but its hard.
A friend text me to say sorry today and she said people tend to have a death close to them when a baby is born or a women is pregnant and I have heard this before. Maybe Sofa and Vesti were my humans as my cats to me are as special as any human around me.

I am just so sad and exhuasted, have made an appt with my midwife for next week as getting so down that I don't want it to spiral out of control as use to suffer from anorexia and don't want that sparked off again. I just miss Sofa and Vesti so much my heart aches.

I'm so sorry to hear about Sofa and coming so soon after Vesti, it must be so hard for you. There's nothing I can say really except that they will now be together on the Bridge and watching over you all. Take care of yourself. :hug:
