I saw that in the paper, we did have a cat at the blue cross because he had one black foot and one white and the women couldn't cope because she liked things symmetrical!

I saw a cat one online a couple of years ago saying she wanted to rehome due to the cat not matching her new sofa. Just shows how some people think of pets and how emotionally attached they are

I did work with a woman a long time back who got a persian to match her decor, needless to say she ended up giving it away to the lady at the cattery she boarded it at because it peed on the carpet

This is so dreadful, but nothing changes, only more of it.

On a flippant note surely the answer to "the dog/cat doesnt match my sofa" surely the answer is give it a couple of weeks and the sofa will match the dog/cat.

Well, in order for our cats to match it, our sofa would have to be black and cream with chocolate and white bits all over it.   I really can't believe some people and they obviously don't care for their pets at all.

 So do I. Tend to view the animals in our home as little individuals rather than living accessories, though. How odd of me(!)

How sad that people want animals to match furniture.

All of our friends who have cats invest in sticky roll since the cat fur never matches what they're wearing.

It's especially fun for a friend of mine who only wears black and has an all white cat ;)

Just wish people would think a little before taking a animal on.

My perfect sofa

A cream sofa gently infused with the fur of tabby and white hairs carefully arranged to give the right ambiance, added to that a few stronger black clumps from Izzy the dog ,again carefully arranged to give that final touch.  A must for every home.

If you cant cope with this please dont even think of getting a pet.

Our sofa would be black, tabby - stiprd, spotted, silver and ginger varieties, ginger and white, cream and Chocalate (The Raggie) grey, grey and white and just about every cat colour so not sure what it would look like add in short Jack Russell hair and long hair from the B & W Collie and Red andf white from Sunny  - how do you decorate around it!!!!

I suppose a tweed sofa would work  :innocent:

when I did a brief stinit volunteering at a local dog rescue (school work experience) a woman brought in her poodle because she had bleached her hair and the black poodle no longer matched... she tried finding a groomers to bleach the dog but thankfully none would

I think people who do this should be taken to a side room, knocked out and neutered

Tweed - that was what I was trying to think of this morning. I should have remembered as it was the name of my Grandma's favourite perfume

Tweed - that was what I was trying to think of this morning.

Real Huntin' shootin' n fishin' tweed that looks as if its been knitted from dead pheasants, hair from dribbling retrievers and old bits of stubbly heather?????  Purrrfect for a cat-owners upholstery!

OOOH!  Forgot if its tweed of Scottish origin,  throw in a handful or porridge oats!!! :sneaky:

My granddad had labradors of every colour, 2 jack russells visited regular and a family including 5 grandkids normally covered in mud

and if grandma cleaned the tweed sofa you couldn't tell  :evillaugh: :innocent:

Also tweed will hide grass stains, mud, blood, fire ash and most kinds of fur

  Ummm, surely the cat did not suddenly develop this pigmentation variation. Surely she noticed this problem before collecting it and taking it home?  Some people just beggar belief!!

This thread has taken a turn that reminds me of a settee I asked a second hand furniture place to save me that I thought as utterly ace - it was red tartan and would've matched absolutely nothing in my house but I still wanted it. They agreed and when I went to pick it up the person who agreed had forgotten to put a reserved sign on and someone else had sold it.....I was really upset, but they made up for it by collecting one I won off EBay for me really cheaply! :shy:

See, nothing has to match in my house! ;)

Sticky rollers (or defluffers as they are known here) are the way to go.  I wear a lot of black and Skye's lovely white long hair gets everywhere.  My problem not hers!!!

Stupid, stupid people!!!

Not quite the sort of tweed I meant. I meant this sort:

Ahhhh, herring bone tweed! yes, that is nice for kitty claws I find - loops up very well with a little strategically applied 'stretching' exercise!! ;D

I've discovered that cats can make decorative loops in any fabric whatsoever - their talent is endless

true, their ingenuity is endless - little darlings  :Luv: but a tightly woven cotton or polished cotton that is firmly fitted has been my most successful choice to date. You can also install armrest covers which gives them a little tent to play in   :evillaugh:

sofa dumped because it doesn't match the cat.

Wow!!!!, Oh deep joy on reading this thread, I have a somewhat rare red and black Harris Tweed cat and had just about guiven up hope of ever finding a sofa to match my cat. I have tried everywhere, I rang up Battersea Sofa Home and they couldn't help, I rang up Sofa Protection branches and, again, no joy and the RSPS (Royal Society for the Protection of Sofas) said they had nothing!. I've scoured sofa warehouses and shops the length and breath of the land but again came away empty handed so you can appreciate what this means to me.

After all a sofa's for life not just for Boxing Day!.

Cheers

Leigh
