Title: Broken nose for a cat?
Post by: Konch on February 14, 2007, 14:25:33 PM
Is it possible for a cat to break his nose?

Chipper (the one pictured) used to have a lovely little dished white nose however i noticed last night it is now resembling a boxer and looks swollen altho he doesnt mind me touching it. Also he has a habit of keeping his 3rd eyelid closed so looks boss-eyed!

He used to be soo pretty and cute but is now turned into a little monkey who bites my chin and eyebrows at 4am for breakfast!

If you notice a difference and other symptons are showing then have your vet look at him as a safety net. It could be a bite or the like but best to have it looked at to put your mind at rest.

If his 3rd eyelid is showing there is a problem and a vet visit is needed

I would agree, the sight of the third eyelid is usually a sign all is not well.

The lil'ginger is much better now thank you for asking.  i think he must have bashed it the other week while being chased by big bro.  But the nose is back to cute and straight and the boss-eyed look is now only when he opens his sleepy eyes when giving me a "aint i sweet mum" look.

Ah bless him ... sounds like he just clonked it on something.  Zephyr did something similar when he was little.  He came in one day with a big scratch on his nose, which was all swollen, and minus three front teeth (which never grew back).  I think he fell out of the tree  but within a couple of weeks he was fine.

I guess some cats havent got the hang of this balance and agile thing.  Chipper is forever falling off the bed, sofa or my lap  :-[

Chipper has now got a black eye and swollen cheek from slamming (or rather his brother slamming) his head into the floor. I should re-name him Hatton!

oh dear, they must play exceptionally rough as cats are quite resilient on the whole.

i dont know if a raw steak on the eye would last long enough to do any good

oooh sounds painful ... konch don't want to worry you but if his cheek is swollen and he has a black eye are you sure he hasn't fractured something ...  has he seen a vet?
