Title: Hand carved wooden wand
Post by: Reynard on December 03, 2008, 21:47:08 PM
The purrfect auction lot for the witches and pagans of Purrs; a hand carved elder-wood wand with a rosewood pendant. The wand will be a plain natural wood finish (no bark left on), sanded and polished with beeswax. The pendant will have a Pentacle on one side and either a Triple Goddess or the rune of the winning bidder's choice on the other.

Unfortunately due to issues I've had recently, this will be the only wand I'll be putting up for auction. It is currently a work-in-progress but I'm hoping to finish it in the next couple of days or so and will post a photo of it as soon as I do.

Just so you have an idea of the kind of wands that I make, I've attached a photo of Pearl with the ash-wood wand that was in her prize-winning pen at the Supreme show.

Postage & packing on this item is £1.50

Here is the work-in-progress. The shaft is finished (aside from still needing sanding) and the handle is still in the middle of being shaped. Overall length is 14 inches.

Wood is paler than in the photo.

OMG...i've won it! I'm soooo happy i'm nearly in tears

Ever since Reynard posted the piccies of her first one and mentioned she had an Elder tree i've been champing at the bit!

Finally a wand that I can work with.....Oh joy! An Elder wand for a witch born under the Elder moon (celtic calender!)

Blessed be Reynard, everyone who took part and blessings on the Paws Inn pusses- lots of lovely money for you!  :Luv:

Thought i'd put the piccies for my choice of rune on here....

The Rune is feoh , from the Anglo-Saxon Futhork which is a derivation of the Elder Futhark. It similar to the 'F' rune of the elder grouop but with slightly curved prongs  :shify: I've chosen one from this group because my family lineage is heavily Anglo- Saxon (East Anglian) though we are also Celtic!!

I've put a piccie of the complete Futhork on here so's peeps can see just how complicated it was.....

Sorry the pics are so bad, they where taken by phone and it doesn't do close images well  :tired:

That's a nice choice; prosperity.  :)

It's one of the runes that I'd beaded into the design at the back of Pearl's pen at the Supreme. :)
