Let the fun begin! :shify:
We put the tree up yesterday it has no decorations on it. Originally we placed it where it was last year, straight away Milo started chewing it and climbing it!!! We spent all afternoon saying no milo!!!!! >:(
Jess was quite scared of it and didn't go near it and wouldn't walk past it.
After about 3 hours I decided to move it into a different place as I was getting worried about stressing Jess out, this way its right in the corner and he doesn't need to go near it unless he wants too.
We're going to monitor the situation and see what happens, I'm more worried at this stage about stressing Jess out. So I'm back on wee monitoring (well I do this anyway) and adding a little more water than normal to his food to hopefully keep him weeing.
If everything goes okay this week, the tree decorations will be slowly added this weekend.
I have a feeling christmas might get stressful.
-
We need pics, cats in the tree of course lol
-
We put ours up at the weekend too and I must say, I am impressed that it's not been pulled down again! Rufus and Jasper haven't quite climbed it (as yet!) but definately enjoy the ball balls! :evillaugh:
-
I wanted to put our tree up but hubby wouldn't get it out the loft for me as he said it was too early and I couldn't go dragging it down from the loft being pregnant >:( He is getting it down for me this weekend.
-
I got home last night and it was in one piece.
When I was pottering around I noticed Jess sitting under the tree, I went and praised him and made a fuss as his never been this close before. Then I noticed the tree moving out of the corner of my eye and the pics below are what I saw :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
I left Milo for a few minutes to see what he did and he just made his way up the tree I did eventually pull him out and he didn't go near it for the rest of the evening.
-
 oh the joys of xmas with our furbabes! lmao
-
Well mine are obviously in the minority. They don't seem bothered by it at all. Are they do is sleep and hide toys under it :evillaugh:

Oh such brave people!!!!!
I've got a 2ft tree this year. Am so paranoid about Memphis and the tree that I unplug it and stick it in the kitchen with the door closed over night so I don't get any nasty surprises in the morning :evillaugh: I also don't put it out until I'm able to tree sit :evillaugh: I made some paper chains for house decorations and only put them in areas he cannot get too :evillaugh:
He has done some damage though!!! Got some gorgeous purple and white lights to stick around the house, less than 24 hours with them the little :naughty: boy chewed them!! Luckily though they weren't plugged in at the time, but they got binned as he did so much damage they would have been dangerous (plus wouldn't have even worked!)
-
Elvis is the only one that bothers with our and she just likes batting the baubles, the other cats don't care.
-
Well Monday night I came home to 7 baubles and one star on the floor and the lights had been pulled around, as well as the star on top!!!!
But since then they haven't touched it! Hopefully the novelty has worn off :wow:
-
We went and bought a pre lit tree so that there are no wires for them to get tangled in and I have just decorated with beads and bows - so far not too bad 2 of the Benglies have been to the top and the beads get pulled off regulary but TBH I am really pleased with them all. I have got a small fibre optic tree in the lounge window and that gets unplugged and hidden when Im not at home.
-
Here is a pic of the tree.
The bare area is where all the baubles were knocked off.

That's what I did, bought a pre-lit one thinking it would deter them from pulling the lights off. Instead, Felix chewed through the lights about 20 times!!!!!
This year it has been repaired and put in a pen to protect it. Bryony came round last night and took a piccie of said "captive" tree, hopefully can post them later.
-
I'll do my best to get pics up tonight, I've got some photos of the girls playing attack the bauble that I want to put up too, Its my last night doing pizzas though so it depends what time I can escape!!!
-
Lovely pics.. :Luv:
My tree is going up soon, but why i bother ..... it spends more time knocked over
I have to try & secure it somewhere in the end to stop it from goin over :naughty:
Hopefully i can catch my 2 boys with camera.
Splitz just sits under it.

Great pics :evillaugh:

love this thread ;D

Almost finished Christmas tree (still a mess around it :-[ ) Both kitties love chewing it & hiding under it. Cuscus had his snip yesterday so he's still wearing lampshade collar poor boy.

That's the length I have to go through to have christmas decorations and this morning they still managed to get two of the decorations through the bars,
-
  Crikey that's some protection there!

I must say, (and I don't want to speak too soon!) but after the initial interest, my boys have been VERY good and don't really go even that close to the tree now. We have a little water spray that we used when Rufus was a teeny kitty as he was quite prone to doing things he shouldn't! (still is if truth be told!) a little spray of water on his head will put him off very well and he doesn't hold a grudge so it's all good! Oscar being the perfectly behaved boy he is, has never had the spray but has seen it so I don't think he fancies it and Jasper has only had it once.... and that was when he tried to climb the tree. Apart from the fact I don't want it on the floor, the needles are fairly sharp and I didn't want them getting hurt on them (although they are cats so I'm sure they wouldn't actually be that worried, they are a lot tougher than me!)
Well because they are not keen on the spray, I just had to show it to them a couple of times when they went to climb the tree and now they don't go near. They have SOOOO many toys littered all over the house that they don't actually need to play with ball balls and stars and don't seem remotely interested now. :)

Lesley, I am disappointed your tree cage does not have any gold glitter on it - you really could have gone to a little more effort!

I did put some decorations on the actual cage, but not too many otherwise they have them off as well.
-
superb!! what an effort Lesley but the fact they still managed to get a couple off really made me chuckle... wasn't Mclaren by any chance was it! little tikes!
absolutely brill.... puts us to shame not even putting a tree up again this year!
-
Well, our tree went up to day and has been completely ignored. It's like nothing has changed in the house.
I am most disappointed!
Karen

wait till you get up tomorrow morning - things may have changed ... and not necessarily for the better :evillaugh: :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

Christmas trees have been banned in my house ever since the dog thought I have provided them for his use  makes cat damage look perfectly acceptable ...
-
We are not having decorations as we are away for Xmas this year. I am HOPING that the kitbits will have calmed down a bit by next year so I can have a tree up! ;)

I just love the caged tree
Mogs doesnt even look at the tree but Amber taps the occasional bauble when she wants attention.
Much better this year then the first year she was here and knocked the tree over

We have a tree from my husbands Uni days (or as I call it the Charlie Brown christmas tree), which none of my cats have really bothered with. Last year my foster kitty Harley managed to knock the whole thing over using her very bushy tail - she didn't actually mean too.
This is her first year with the in laws so I'm sure I'll get stories of what she's done, this is also our Gizmo's first Christmas.
I have however banned the cats from the living room (due to the TV vs Lirael problem) so our tree will be safe, the in laws tree though.... is fair game!

More pictures please!

So our tree is up..........I have a video clip of Cruz trying to eat the tree but no idea how to upload it to here.........can anyone help? :thanks:

If you have a photobucket account (free @ www.photobucket.co.uk ) you can upload the pic there the same as you would a photo and then paste the IMG code ;D

I've given up putting the baubles back on the tree.
I'm going to redecorate it boxing day when we have people over :evillaugh:
-
Mine is up. Summer is mesmorised by the fibre optic lights. She just sits and looks at them for ages!
No baubles off yet, and no climbing. But is only been up since Monday.
-
Max has batted 3 baubles, 2 stars, and had a crack at the angel too :evillaugh:
Our tree is only tiny, and he can easily reach everything
-
I knew it!!!!! Our tree had been up for oh at least 10 minutes before Oscar stood on his hind legs behind it and tipped it over. Luckily only a couple of baubels came off. I think it gave them both a fright, because since then, theuy have only poked at the odd ball as they go past. Mind you, it's early days yet

Have just had an e-mail of Ange to say that the BBC have asked for more info about my caged tree
I thought she was joking when she said she had sent it to them. I'll probably be one of those nutters they show on the morning Breakfast news.
