currently the girls share a pouch of hi-life kitten mixed together with some PAH kitten complete dry each morning and the same in the evening. Its been mentioned that now they are neutered (izzy soon to be) I should be feeding them adult food. If I do this I've decided I'll give them a pouch each of whiskars or felix in the morning and one in the evening. However I'd like to leave some dry out for them the eat if they are hungery. I can't leave the kitten complete out because it's 'complete' what other things to people leave down for 'kibble'

You might want to try sticking with HiLife wet - no point giving them high meat content food for the first 6 months then dropping down to Whiskas. You can feed complete dry alongside complete wet, you just need to make sure that you dont leave too much, and that you balance it alongside the wet - 20g of dry food is roughly the equivalent of a 100g of wet food.

Indy gets in a day -
1 pouch Felix or Tesco Premium (still have him on the kitten version)
and approx 60 g Royal Canin Siamese/ Royal Canin Neutered Male mixed together
mind you he gets all his food split between 3 meals and he is always bang on the ideal weight for his size (a sturdy 4.5 kilos)
I think he is about same age as the girls... well a touch older at 8 months today

Complete is the right kind of dry to leave out - it's the complementary food that has to be limited. I don't know of any complementary dry foods though.

I didn't know it's necessary to change to adult food after neutering. What is the reason for it? I've heard they need kitten food until 1 year old.

I always leave a bowl of PAH dry out, the boys had the kitten version when they were young and switched to the adult version with no problem.

When cats are neutured they use up less calories,the adult food is less in calories therefore prevents us having fatty puddies,although my lot have gone a tad chubby lately,even Rameses whos outside everyday come rain or shine :shify: :shify:

Thanks for the answer Gwen! My kitten Pipsqueak is only 19 weeks old (already neutered) and he's far from being fat. I guess I will stick with the kitten food.
