PH took bella to the vet today and she mentioned Izzy's blood tests they said it's something to do with enzymes in her liver (too high or to low i cant remember). She said not to worry as this is seomthing common in growing Kittens....so naturally I'm panicking she's got something nasty! Anyone else experienced this in kittens?

Nope sorry, never heard of it. What I would say is that it's quite unusual to blood test 6 month old apparently healthy cats/kittens prior to neutering or spaying unless there were any health concerns. On that basis I wouldn't imagine too many others have come across it :hug:
I know it's hard not to worry but if the vets themselves have said it's nothing to be too worried about then I'd take comfort from that :hug:
How's Bella's wound healing? Hope she's doing OK :)

I haven't either but I'm sure everything will be OK try not to worry I know its hard not to though :hug:

Its a new way of getting more dosh i think, running bloods on an animal without clinical signs of illness is just crazy :Crazy:

i've no idea about liver enzymes in kittens, but just wondered if you are worrying if you couldn't ring up the vets again and ask them to explain?

I know they are great at blurting somethign out and then telling you its nothing to worry about!! vets!
I'm sure if the vets says its nothing to worry about then that is correct :hug:

when i took then in to be done. The vet asked if I wanted bloods running on them first. He said he strongly recommend it if they were 10year old cats but at kitten age it wasn't completely nessecary. Me being be thought "whats the harm in doing it, it will help put my mind at rest that they were ok"....Bellas were fine but izzy weren't so now the blood test cost be £28 per cat with antibiotics on izzy as £10 and the when she goes back she'll have to have ANOTHER blood text at £28. big pain in the backside its costing be a fortune. Izzy's is insured with pet plan the excess is £50 and the total spent on her will be around £65 for the sake of £15 should I be claiming?

I'd definitely claim. If anything comes of it, you can at least avoid the excess again presumably as your insurance will regard it as a continuing claim? Plus every little helps - £15 buys a lot of kitty food. ;)

I was with M&S last year and claimed for a big bill of £600 but even though I had a nil excess I didn't claim for the smaller visits of £40 odd as I thought they might see me as an increased risk and increase the premiums. As it was I switched to Axa at renewal (the big bill of £600 proved him fit and healthy :)) anyway bit I definitely see your point about claiming as for the sake of £15 it could affect your premium.

yes it may of course. But in my view they seem to put up premiums every year anyhow. I think I'd only not claim for a small amount if I was 100% sure there'd be no continuing claim on it.

They may says its a neutering cost and not pay up so id ring them first and see what they say, as she wasnt ill the vet technically didnt have any reason to run tests

Good point MM, I had Riley blood tested when he was neutered but that's because his 'panting' was being investigated by way of X-ray, ultrasound and ECG so it seemed silly not to go for the blood test too. M&S paid up but that was part of a much larger claim and he did have clinical signs of something, albeit it was found to be da bird exhaustion :innocent:

well Izzy had another blood test on friday and everything came back fine! Had a different vet this time and apparently the heart murmur hasn't gone and she graded it a 2/3 how you can miss it one time and find it again another day I'll never know. Anyway she's now been doen and looks very sorry for herself. She'd been making a fuss at the vets so a collar was already on when I get to get her :evillaugh:
I think I'm forgiven though because I got lots of groggy hugs :Luv2: I also gave her a littel tin of sheba as a treat. It went down really well until a prawn got stuck down her collar causing her to go MENTAL trying to get it out. Bella 'helped' her retrieve it though :evillaugh:

Yep external ones and its not as neat as bella's was, its a bit puckered. The vet also explained that like bellas Izzy stitches aren't disolvable althought she didn't explain y!

Glad it went well and that her bloods are normal :)
