I am sooooooooooooooooooooooo annoyed.. This isnt one of the vets we use often.. but one of our fosterers work there and they have had a young male tom in their care all week that was involved in RTA last week but other then a few scratches was fine. He was a full tom no more then 2yrs old and had a collar but no one came forward. He was on our list of cats to come in after being neutered and i may of had a home for him. But on Friday he was PTS after they decide to blood test himand found him to be FIV pos.. No one rang me and he wasnt in our care at that moment in time. He was fit and healthy... But if they had bothered to pick up the phone i am sure we could of worked on something... but they didnt and this black mog was PTS due to this.. It makes me mad..... !! What a waste!!!!!!!! What a complete co out for the vets and the nurses.. Why... ! Does it take so much effort to at least pick up the phone and ask....! It makes me so mad as i do indeed have several homes lined up for indoor puss cats and he was friendly and social.. My respect for this particular vet has gone down so much...They seem to of lost the point of what they are aiming to do.
We are all so annoyed as our fosterer was not working the day they did this as if she was i am sure he would of been alive now..
So i am posting this as someone cared about your Blackie .. i hope you are not let down so much when you reach rainbow bridge....

I'm so sorry Sharon
godbless Blackie xx

I am so sorry Sharon and Blackie will live on, on the Bridge.
RIP Blackie and you are now on our Roll of Honour.
-
What a rotten b! thing to happen - you poor soul. Id have been spitting blood and teeth and the vet would have had to throw me out or sedate me. RIP little Blackie. :'(
-
Horrible - I'm sure all the vets know CP take FIV cats - You can tell me who it is (I have a feeling it is the vet next door to me?) so I never go in there again. If it is, I am going to go ahead with my carport (on our land!) so they can't get their vehicles past at the back! >:(
-
RIP Blackie- play hard at the bridge sweetie xxx
-
Oh how terrible!! >:(
RIP Blackie - be happy at the bridge.
-
What a tragedy, that Blackie should lose his life for nothing more than a manageable condition. When will people learn?
-
Thats terrible, sorry Sharon

That's awful, and I can't believe that vets will still PTS healthy cats, just because they have FIV :'( RIP little one :(
That could have so easily been Max, but luckily CP decided to try and home him, and 8 years on he's happy, healthy and 100% loved.
-
This is awful I cant really believe they had done this without a phone call at least!!!!
Something needs to be done about this.
Poor little man, Im so sorry this has happened to you.
Sweet dreams on your way to the bridge and rest easy when you get there, someone who cares will collect you xxxx
Sharon you must be really really :censored: off!!!

What a tragic waste of a life, shame on the vets for not even ringing when he was on your list of cats. RIP little one, you were obviously destined for a better life
-
That's so sad RIP Blackie
-
poor Blackie - that is awful Sharon

Poor Blackie. :RIP:

Poor Blackie, another life wasted through ignorance :'(
Horrible - I'm sure all the vets know CP take FIV cats -
I have to disagree Mark, my friend did trapping for CP and if any of the ferals no matter how tame were positive, the vets were instructed to pts :sneaky:

Hi Dawn i think Mark mean that they should know that we do take FIV cats, as you are right in saying that some dont.. But seeing as this is a local vet they should of known better and at least got off their backsides and phoned me.. The truth is i suppose they just couldnt be bothered!

That seems to be the case with most vets, it's a shame that they couldn't just pick up the phone to save a life and I suppose the cats life ended on an in house result as well :censored: I also think it's disgusting that this poor cat had a collar on and the vets decided after one week he was unwanted, he could possibly have been lost and his owners hadn't really been given a chance :'( At least in a rescue situation, his owners may possibly have found him or as you mentioned already a home could have been found.

Yes, I meant our local vets should know our branch will take them on.
