Title: I am S T E A M I N G steaming mad
Post by: Maddiesmum on November 08, 2008, 06:57:37 AM
You may remember my neighbour who had 14 cats - 11 of them unneutered and Dawn gave me loads of time and help trapping and taking 9 of them leaving her with 5, 3 of whom were unneutered.  I arranged with CP to have the three cats neutered, took her to the vet with them and sorted out collecting them.  Well she just announced to one of my cat loving neighbours that Tigger the former troublesome Tom has been missing for 4 weeks.  She has done nothing whatsoever to find him.  I am really thinking of reporting her to rspca as her oldest cat, Shanda is like a walking skeleton and we have told her he needs the vet and two of us have offered to take her.  She says he's fine.  Also I haven't been back in the house but my guess is that the litter trays that were piled high with filthy litter haven't been emptied.  So far as Tigger is concerned he must be dead or injured as he would no way let anyone touch him.  It makes me so mad this woman shouldn't be allowed cats.  Do you think I should report her?

Yes.

Although I don't have a high regard for the RSPCA. Maybe try contacting CP.

The problem is, sadly CP don't have any legal powers to remove cats etc. The RSPCA do have the powers but often choose not to use them  >:(

I am going to ring the RSPCA shortly but sadly don't expect much from them.  Am going to read up on the animal rights bill first so I know my stuff

I'm not sure how true this is, but I read on the animadversion site that the RSPCA don't actually have these powers either, they just act as though they do. This was on a site very anti RSPCA.

I've phoned the RSPCA.  For a change the operator was very helpful and pleasant.  Took a lot of details, asked a lot of questions and says she will send an Inspector round.  I have asked for freedback as I understand they are obliged to give you this if you give your details.  I'll keep you posted.  I can't understand her at all why oh why does she have cats when she clearly isn't the slightest bit concerned for their welfare and it falls on everyone else to sort it out

Surely this is breaking that new pet owners law?

How many cats does this woman have left? I think you should do something about the frail one, you never know what would happen if the rspca do get hold of him  :scared:

I think you have done the right thing people should not have cats if they are not going to look after them.  Let us know what happens if anything.

CCM I don't know what I can do about Shanda.  None of her cats are very socialised with people.  I have done the best that I can re all her cats but I think it has got to the point where I need to bring in some authority.  I have tried my best (as has another of my neighbour's) to draw to her attention the fact that Shanda needs to see a vet, we have even offered to take her there and back but the woman is just not concerned and says that SHanda is fine.  Remember this is the woman whose she cats were continually giving birth to kittens who were instantly killed by another she cat.  SHe did nothing to prevent it in fact she can't even be bothered cleaning the two litter trays that she supplied for 15 cats.

Just been told by one of my neighbours that a woman told him yesterday that there was a tabby cat dead by the road.  Tigger  was tabby though  with lots ofwhite and there has been a poster on the nearby lampost searching for a missing tabby.  Apparently the woman said she would ring the tabby's owner.  Be it Tigger, the other missing tabby or whoever, RIPlittle cat that road is so  bad
