Hiya,
Whilst I was up visiting my mum last night she suddenly anounced that it would be a nice idea to mark the garden of the nursing home where we scatter Suzie's ashes on Saturday afternoon with a small cross or suchlike with her name on. I've given it some thought and, as my woodworking skills are, well let's just say, confined to a very wonky spice rack made at school about 40 years ago, the only thing that I can think of where I might get something is a good florist. Any ideas most welcome as I haven't got much free time this week before the weekend.
Cheers and thanks

Ebay aren't too bad - some sellers are really nice if you explain why you want something.

Thanks, gret idea,
The problem is timing as I need it before the weekend.

I solved my problem,
I just spoke to a lovely lady called Julie at http://www.keepstakes.co.uk/ (http://www.keepstakes.co.uk/) who has kindly agreed to engrave a bronze plaque today and get it sent overnight to me so that I have it before Saturday and she kindly offered to pay the extra carriage herself to ensure that I had it in time.
It should look something like this:

that's nice Leigh and kind of her to be so helpful to make sure you have it for Saturday

Yes, they were great, i think it will be a nice lasting memorial. :)

That's lovely Leigh hun, special words for a special little lady :Luv2: xxx

Thanks hun,
I think it's a better, more long-lasting, idea than planting a rose bush or suchlike especially as it's a communal garden in the nursing home and I cannot attest to how well a bush would be maintained and looked after and if it wasn't that would be upsetting. Gave me a real challenge last night though, I thought "how the heck am I going to manage that by Saturday" but, like all things, challenges are set to be summounted and the lady was so helpful in doing it quickly for me. Saturday will be such a lovely way of saying "adieu" to our lovely Suzie.
Cheers

That's great Leigh - didn't think they would allow you to put up a plaque, that's why I suggested a pot of heather so they wouldn't say you was spoiling the garden.
Your mum will be really pleased.

Hi chuck,
It's a stake, it can be pushed into the ground so nothing to attach, I do like the heather idea very much and will investigate that further, maybe in the spring.
I rang the home manager this morning to check that our plans for Saturday would be okay and she was very helpful and readily agreed. I think mum's right, there should be something to mark the spot where we scatter her ashes, a memorial for the future.
Cheers
