Title: Happy second adoption day Mr. BBC (Frankie)
Post by: LeighK on November 04, 2008, 09:47:48 AM
Hi folks,
I doesn't seem possible but today is the second anniversary of adopting my Big Black Cat, my "bumbly" big black woolly bear, Letterbox's legendary bassist "Fat-boy" Frankie. I shall, of course, be making a huge fuss of him this evening.

Awwwww, hope you have a very happy adoption day big fella :Luv: Max sends his headbutts too from one bbc to another :)
Give him (and Alfie of course) a mega cuddle from me, and I hope they're not being too boisterous with their 6am combat training :Luv:

Frankie say's a BIG thank you and when it comes to BIG they don't come much bigger :)
He asked me to publish the following extract from the band's interview "The Letterbox Story" (http://www.leigh-kemp.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/AlfieCat/Letterbox_Story.html (http://www.leigh-kemp.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/AlfieCat/Letterbox_Story.html)
'Fat Boy' Frankie, a heavyweight name in feline rock.
Interviewer: "Hi Frankie, I suppose you got the nickname 'Fat Boy' because of your rotund physique?"
Frankie: "My what?!, is he being funny Alf?"
Alfie: "It's a polite was of saying it's 'cos you're fat Frankie"
Frankie: "Oh no not that again!, how many times must I say it?, I'm not fat!, I'm big-boned!"
Interviewer: "So you got you nick name because you are big-boned "
Frankie: "Yeah that's right, he catches on quickly doesn't he Alf?"
Interviewer: "Why did you choose to play the bass guitar Frankie? "
Frankie: "Well I suppose it was dictated to me really by circumstances as Alfie plays lead and Suzie plays the drums but I think it really suits my laid-back personality, I'm strictly rhythm, I don't want to make my guitar cry or sing, I leave that kinda stuff to Alfie. It also fits in squarely with my philosophy of never expending more energy than is strictly neccessary. "
Interviewer: "Thanks guys, keep on rockin' ".
Frankie: "Oh, we most certainly will, by the way, I don't suppose you've got any biscuits on you have you?".
Oh schucks!!!, you mean Frankie, yes HE is very handsome ;D ;D
Cheers
Leigh

Yes Sam, 2 years already and I've had Alfie for over 2 1/2 years. Frankie should have joined me a fortnight before he did but Alfie had a bout of cold/flu and was on anti-biotics for a fourtnight so I put off getting Frankie until Alfie was over it as I didn't want two FIV cats both with flu at the same time. You might also remember that I was approached to try and find a home for Frankie but got no replys maybe because of his being black and with FIV but that turned out to be very much to my advantage, a godsend, as he settled in so fast with Alfie and is such great company for him and quickly proved to be a super-natured cat, very loving, gentle and laid-back cat and those big soulfull eyes do it for me every time :). I was quite suprised at how quickly it ook him to settle in, only three days and, for an ex-outdoors cat, he just loves the indoor lifestyle.
Always makes me laugh to remember his arrival. When the ladies from CP brought him round I was suprised at what a huge cat he was, simply enormous. Alfie was so curious all he saw of the new big black cat was as Frankie made a dash out of the cat carrier to "safety" behind a shelving unit where he stayed for 3 days only sticking his head out far enough to eat his food but he did lick the bowl clean every time, a sign of things to come. Alfie was driven nuts by knowing the "new" cat was there but not able to get to him until, on the fourth day, Frankie strolled out as bold as brass, they sniffed one another a few times and then Frankie jumped up on my lap for his first stroking session :), since then they are pretty much inseperable :).
Cheers
Leigh

He settled quickly Leigh because I would imagine he wasn't an outdoor cat by choice ;) Given the choice very few kitties will actually choose to be out in all weathers "roughing it" when they can stay indoors curled up on a nice warm bed being spoilt rotten :Luv2:

Good point Sam, I know that he came from a house with 13 cats, so I'm guessing he didn't get too much individual attention, something he's been making up for ever since ;D ;D

If he gets any more special cuddles I'll never get to work :), over the weekend he set a new lifetime personal best of 6 cuddling sessions in a 12 hour period ;D
He has a new routine, jump up and lay face pointing towards my feet for a tummy/back rubbing session then he turns round and lays face to face for a chin/head rubbing session and then turns on his side and rests his head on my shoulder for an all-over rubbing session and then falls asleep in this position all 14/15lb of him, priceless ;D ;D

It is, he's a very loving lap cat. He sits by my feet when I'm sitting on the settee, looks up at me with those big soulfull eyes, miaows his most pitifull soft miaow and I always give in an lay down and within milli-seconds he's jumped up and adopted his favourite initial stroking position and he's purring loudly, he just loves it :)

Thanks Chris,
Frankie's what I call a "stealth" cat when I comes to eating, he never seems to eat that much in one sitting BUT and it's a pretty big butt (actually on second thoughts that should read pretty big "butt") he sneaks back time and again to hoover up his food, any food that Alfie has left and and spare biscuits ;D He's a sort of big black food "ninja" cat.
What really makes me laugh is when he does that head shaking thing that they all do occasionally and he losses his balance and does the splits with his front legs :) or when he licks his lips and all you can see is that pink tongue and those big eyes :)
