Good morning folks,
I finally felt up to writing a short poem of my own to Suzie that I intend to read when we scatter her ashes next week. not a great bit of prose but I hope fitting.
A Poem For Suzie
A squeaky kitten in a cardboard box,
That is how you came to us,
The passing of years haven't clouded my mind,
I can picture so vividly that precious moment in time.
From the moment, that, you entered our lives,
We were never far from each other's side,
Through seasons past, cold, rain and sun,
From that day forward a magical journey begun.
Alas the years have passed so quickly,
but, unlike us, you never grew old,
You were the rock that our emotions are built on,
The most beautiful of stories waiting to be told.
You changed our lives in the most gracious of ways,
You brought sunshine into our hearts on the darkest of days,
You brought gentleness and loving, kindness and fun,
From the day that magical journey begun.
Sadly time has caught up with us and you're no longer here,
But in our hearts you'll always be near,
Because you've taught us so well, your lessons so clear,
That true love is unconditional and death holds no fear.
Cheers

Thanks hun, it sort of wrote itself :). I had a two lovely cards in the post today, one from our Mary (bless you chuck) and one, totally un-expectedly from all the staff at my vet which was a lovely thought as I've never received anything like it from a vet before.
The boys are such a great comfort and Frankie actually licked my hand on Saturday and he's never done that before and Alfie is now sleeping besides me on the bed, he jumps up from laying on the bedside sheepskin rug as I switch the light of and stays by my side virtually all night until he sparks into life at 5Am from when on it is bedlam with the boys chasing each other around and Alfie jumping off of the headboard onto my pillow, was up at 6Am again this morning :)
Cheers

that was great getting one from the Vet Leigh, especially as she has been so good with you and Suzie. I used to get Christmas cards for Smudge from the vet I had him with - such a nice touch.

Hi chuck,
Both of your cards meant so much to me. It was lovely getting them this morning, they probably came on Saturday but I was back home from my food shopping trip before the postman called and didn't go out of the flat yeaterday.

PS. Mum wanted an "Alfie" soft toy to add to her collection and I've been searching for one for ages and just found a fairly good look-alike on the web and ordered it for her.
PPS. I just e-mailed the poem and my thanks to all the staff at the vets thanking them for sending the card and their courtesy, kindness and professionalism in looking after Suzie.

I sent it Friday but when I spoke to you over the weekend I didn't mention it in case it was lost in the post.
Amazing that you've found an Alfie look - a - like - she'll be dead chuffed.

Well it's a sort of Alfie look-alike, it mostly white and not white/tabby like Alf but she'll love it. It should arrive in the post here at work before the weekend and it'll be something to cheer her up before Saturday when we scatter Suzie's ashes, on second thoughts, I might hold back and give it to her afterwards instead.
Cheers chuck :Luv2:

Hi,
A friend also wrote a lovely peom for Suzie:
A little star sent from above,
A special girl for you to love,
A home you gave her so secure,
The best of everything, for sure!.
She’d curl up close upon the bed,
No room for Leigh’s sleepy head,
Woken all hours, you would be,
Come on!, wake up!, time for me!.
Now Suzie has been called away,
And on a fluffy cloud she lay,
But watching over you she’ll be,
Her very special Daddy, Leigh.
Always in our hearts she’ll stay,
No more than a thought away.
Cheers
Leigh
