I was in town on Sat and popped into the pet shop and in a pen was one tiny kitten all on her own, her siblings had all been sold (£100) I made the mistake of going to say hello and she was so cute and looked so lonely. They said she is 7wks but I have got a feeling she is younger.
I hung around for ages and made loads of phone calls to Mum, sisters etc and then thought I should buy her and then try to rehome her, I knew deep down though that if I got her home I would not be able to let her go and I just cant take on any more at the moment, she is so tiny and the Bengals so rough (I feel like I am trying to justify being a bad person now) I have thought about her all weekend and still feel like I should do something.
Please dont think too badly of me, I feel bad enough.

You didn't do anything wrong, Sheryl. In fact, if you pay £100 the pet shop owner is going to think he can make a fortune on these poor little things and keep selling cats way too young. (I hate this fact and would feel exactly the same as you - but it's a vicious circle.)
Can I suggest you call the RSPCA cruelty line? (You don't have to leave your name) Maybe a check up by them will make the owners buck up their ideas. If they haven't got a special license they aren't supposed to sell kittens anyway.

Sheryl we've probably all been there but like JS says if you do give the pet shop £100 you'll go back next Saturday and there will be others don't be too hard on yourself
-
Sheryl hard as it seems you have done the right thing,if you had bought that little one more would have taken her place. Animals are only sold because people are prepared to buy them.
If its any consolation I too would have walked away.

Sheryl
I'd be feeling EXACTLY the same -
T is right -
I'd do what JS said and call the RSPCA and report.
think you need a
I'm thinking about this little one now xxxx

Thank you all - I am going to phone the RSPCA this afternoon and see if they can do anything. it was really cold in the shop and she looked so sad and lonely.
Thanks for the  Gail - I cried all the way home from town and still keep thinking about her little face.
-
Bless her -I hope the RSPCA can get her - she doesn't deserve to be there poor little mite -she must be scared all alone.
let us know how it goes with the RSPCA. Pet shope should not be allowed to sell kittens - fish - hammys - mice only, the keeping of those litte animals is totally different to the needs of a kitten, a kitten needs warmth and kind human contact.

I don't think any animal needs to be sold in a petshop. Just my opinion. ;)

I'd feel exactly the same and thinking of her now myself poor thing, I went in our local petshop once and there was a hamster all alone and although it's a good few years ago it stilll sticks in my mind, I even asked the woman questions - if it got out at all and wasn't just sat there etc (tried to make her feel guilty) anyway really hope RSPCA sort this out

Me too, anyone can impulse buy :(
-
RSPCA were very sympathetic but I dont hold out much hope - there is no law against selling kittens and no licence is needed. The kitten has to be fully weaned and "well cared" for. I told them of my concerns and they have said that they will visit the shop tomorrow.
Please keep your fingers crossed that whoever buys this little one (I was calling her Peanut while I was talking to her because she is so tiny) loves and cherishes her the way she deserves.

You do need an extra licence to that of a normal pet shop to sell kittens
-
Oh Sheryl please don't feel like a bad person
I'd be a mess if i saw a kitten like that in a shop but what can you do? :-[
Hope the RSPCA sort something out

Thanks for letting me know MM, I will call the RSPCA back in the morning and ask them when they visit the shop to check if they have the special licence. They are going to call me back on Wednesday to let me know the outcome.

Oh Sheryl you are NOT a bad person hun  I'm sure the RSPCA will help her.
