Came back from shopping to find Archie had used his litter tray and there was fresh blood on his doings. Also a splat of blood on floor. Have an appointment at vet in an hour they fitted him in.
Really hope its just something like constipation as beside myself with worry :(
-
Will keep everything crossed for you both and hope it's nothing serious. to you both.
-
Alison hunny please try not to worry, have no advice but hopefully its nothing too serious and will be thinking of you both
-
Poor Archie!!
I'm keeping all fingers and toes crossed it's nothing serious.
I'm just down the road if you need anything or company at the vets.
-
Many thanks Everyone.
Archie is just not himself and will be glad to get to the vets :(
Thank you Den, OH is free so will carry Archie. Will be in touch
-
Poor Archie, hopefully it is something minor and quickly sorted out. Look forward to positive update
-
Hope all goes well at the vets hun, try not to worry
-
I'm sure it will turn out to be a little local trauma or similar  but let us know what the vet's opinion is asap
-
Hope its nothing serious, I'm sure, as you thought, its something simple like constipation and a touch of blood caused by straining.
-
Hopefully its nothing serious and he has been straining a bit and thats all!
-
sending positive vibes for Archie and yourselves
-
Poor Archie, hope it's nothing too serious
-
Phew back agian and so glad we took him.
The vet gave him a really thorough examination and found poor Archie had a bit of a temperature. He also confirmed the blood was coming from his bowel.
Alan, the vet, thinks it is colitus and I have antibiotics to give Archie at home. He also gave him a worming tablet.
If Archie is till losing blood tomorrow I have to take a sample in and take him back.
He is not himself which is hardly surprising.
Alan also suggested a feliway plug in and spary as Archie gets stressed very easily. This has happened since his tail was amputated :(
Thank you so much for all your concern
-
Sorry I missed this, Alison. I hope Archie has a comfy night and that this resolves itself. :cuddle: to the little man, and another :cuddle: for you.
-
Glad it wasn't anything that isn't treatable - not nice though
-
poor Archie, hope he feels better soon
-
Poor little chap. I hope the antibiotics do the trick pdq for him.
-
Oh no, poor little Archie man :( Have you ever tried him with any rescue remedy?
Hope he feels better with the antibiotics :'(
:get well: little man!
-
Thank you all so much
Archie is fast asleep at the moment and am keeping him qiet.
Will give rescue remedy a go Den, never thought of that
-
Love and huggles for Archie - get all better soon xxx
-
The boys send him a healing head kiss each :care: What does collitus actually involve? Do you think he might have eaten something a bit rough that's grazed his bowel?
-
My Guinness (RIP) had colitis and it did clear up with antibiotics. Hope Archie is soon feeling better. If he gets really stressed often, ask your vet about Zylkene
-
Thank you Sheryl and Helen :thanks:
Colitus seems to be bowel upset and can have several causes. To rule out parasites the vet gave him a wormer. As Archie had a temperature he had an infection and if he loses any more blood tomorrow they are going to send a sample away for analysis. Its a bit vague and I think they are hoping it will clear up :(
The vet also mentioned it could be caused by stress. Things are better since the little Bengal has stopped visiting. Archie still gets very annoyed with Parki one of my permanent visitors and I hope its not this upsetting him. Parki has started using Archie litter tray which I will have to watch as this upsets him. She usually goes outside so this is a new thing. :(
Thank you Maddiesmum will bear the drug in mind
-
Zylkene is a new thing. It is natural and does not need a prescription, VETUK sell it but I think it is worth discussing with your vet. Leanne's Jess is on it as well as my Charlie
-
I will write the name down and take it Archies next appointment :thanks:
-
So sorry to hear this Alison. Poor little Archie boy :care:.
You mentioned a few days ago he was off his food. It's so very frustrating that they can't shout up and explain when they feel poorly :(. In fact they seem to do quite the opposite and be far too brave for their own good. Hope ABs kick in and do the trick quickly.  for you and OH Alison
-
Awwww no. Get well soon, Archie. And one for you, Alison:
-
:thanks: Rosella and JS
-
Awww, hope Archie is feeling much perkier soon :Luv: xxx

-
How's Archie doing this morning?
-
Thanks Clare and Liz
I have given Archie his first antibiotic and he ate his breakfast. He is now settling down for a snooze and all signs are looking promising. Just have to keep an eye on his litter tray.
-
Hope things are good for Archie today
-
Hi,
As a Human suffering from the same kind of problem, I can probably put it into some kind of order for you.
Colitus, Diveticulistus (sp) which I have, irritable bowel syndrome and there is another. All give similar symptoms and are all where different parts of the iintestine flair up . Stress is the main cause and I control mine by diet, the daft thing is I can eat spicy curries but cant eat beef burgers but for me fruit and veg are great (so tell that to the cat). I do have to have tablets occasionaly . but if I get stressed my stomach everything goes into spasms and its not nice. So basically find out what he can eat, it may not be the most expensive, or best health food just what he can eat, and try and keep him calm. The first problem is the worst and once you know just watch out for it. It is not life threatening but I can tell you it is very painful. he may not have another problem with this again but again he may, but he will be fine.
luv

Thank you She and Maddiesmum.
She thanks also for the info which is very helpful

How's Archie this afternoon?
I wonder if a little extra fibre in his diet might help him? As you know, I'm sensitive to this sort of complaint at the moment because of Blip's blocked anal glands: I'm trying to get her to take a little Nutrifyba every day as the vet has advised us to increase her dietary fibre. Perhaps worth asking your vet whether that might help alleviate any such symptoms in future, if nothing else?
-
Thank you Christine, I will mention it to the vet when I take him back.
He has not lost any blood today which is wonderful. Although quiet he is eating.
-
Hi, Hows Archie today,
think Christine could be right. When I had my first episode I ended up in hospital. Antibiotics were great, but even after recovery you feel exhausted so that could be why Archie is quiet. Also I never liked cereal but since this has started I have cravings for Shreddied Wheat.Nothing sweet. I am now a 4 a day shreddy person. So bit of fibre could help.

Hope Archie is feeling better today
-
Thank you shecat and Maddiesmum
Archie is still quite quiet but eating well and taking his tablets. There have been no further signs of blood.
Will definatly give the fibre a go
-

-
Just sending some more get well soon vibes to Archie, can you pass on a gentle head-rub from me and Maxy xxxx
-
Thank you Clare and Gwen
I wish he would go out and get a bit of sunshine
-
is posh still lurking Alison??
-
No I rarely see her now. She is such a sweetheart but a tiger with the others :(
I think there is something else upsetting Archie :( He really does not like Parki who has all but moved in. He will often take a swipe at her whereas he loves Fluffy.
Parki is so so sweet but quite honestly the dimmest cat I have ever seen, bless her. Although she is a large lady the others just dont like her and will growl and swipe at her.
She has also started using Archies litter tray for some reason. She has toileted outside for the whole of her 8 years.
Beginning to wonder if her presence is upsetting Archie :(
-
That's it I'm coming to see Archie :shify: (if he's available to be seen of course!!)
Poor Archie though being upset :'(
-
I hope Archie starts feeling his normal self soon Alison

Sorry if you already done so but an extra tray or 2 may help, Parki probably cant believe her luck a home with an indoor loo. Probably shows she settled herself in well tho!
-
Alison, hoping that Archie is feeling a bit brighter now.
-
Thank you everyone
Archie has had a very quiet day but is a bit brighter this evening.
Millys Mum have thought about another tray but now you have mentioned it I will set another up for Parki
Den Archie would love a visit ;D
-
Hope Archie had a nice snooze last night, and is feeling a bit perkier today  xxx
-
Thank you Clare he is a bit more active today but still not 100%. Hoping he will pick up when his finished his tablets.
-
I'm sure he will hun
-
Pleased to hear Archie is feeling a little better and hope he continues to improve
-
Aww poor Archie, how is he feeling today?
Like Maddiesmum said said earlier Jess is on Zylkene for stress and its brought quite remarkable changes in my little man.
-
Thank you Leanne.
I am on the laptop and not very good with it. The computer is
for repair
Archie was very quiet for most of the day but is a bit livlier this evening. He is now running away when he sees us coming with his pill.
-
Alison so sorry I missed this thread until now ... pleased to hear Archie is feeling a bit brighter and fingers crossed he will be back to his old self very soon
-
Must be feeling better if he is running away from the pill ;D
-
Obviously on the mend then
-
Thanks :thanks:
He is sleeping at the moment but generally a lot brighter.
So glad I took him to the vet when I did as am sure it would have turned nasty
-
WOOHOOOOOO I'm so glad he seems on the mend.
It must have been that kitbit that I gave him yesterday :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
-
So glad I took him to the vet when I did as am sure it would have turned nasty
It's so true, this. Like you I recently took Blip to the vet wondering if I was being neurotic - OH thought so - and thank goodness I did! They give us the smallest signals and it is so important to trust our instincts on their behalf
-
:wish: Oh Archie you are a naughty boy running away from the yukky pills, glad you are feeling better :Luv2:
-
Thank you Everyone :thanks:
Den I think your visit and treat cheered Archie up
