Had to rush poor Sugar Plum to the vet early this morning,found her vomitting and foaming yellow bile,her temp is over 105 and vet is not sure what is wrong,best hope is a virus,shes had antibiotic,metacam and zantac injections.
Sugar Plum is the most savage 6 month old feral kitten I have ever come across and despite being so ill she astounded Andy the vet by not being laid flat out, instead she lashed out with everything.Have brought her back home but if she gets any worse she has to go in on a drip. So positive vibes for her please and also her 3 litter mates who will no doubt go through the same if it is a virus. Have put her in a pen on her own and she wants to kill me,good sign.

hope she feels better soon T, how old is too old to tame down? My only experience of ferals is bluto the kitten my oh picked up many years ago but the vet put him at 3 to 4 weeks - he lived to be a lovely boy and was taken by cancer at nearly 15

still no change,but she is still hissing and growling at me so thats a good sign.

The ideal age to tame down quickly is under 10 weeks,but some can be tamed from adult,we have 3 of them who have taken a few years but they are now domestics. Sugar Plum and her family will take a while yet.

Drip been replenished this am,food put in which she wont eat,still growling and hissing,vet ringing later today.

Sugar Plum staying on drip overnight again, she is still refusing food despite having an injection to stimulate her appetite.

Been to see Sugar Plum this morning and was hissed and growled at :rofl:; vets are going to sedate her to take more bloods as we need to check kidney and liver values; we are also sending blood to Galsgow as a precaution to check for Coronavirus, she has finally managed to eat a little food.

I'm glad she's eaten something. That biochem test they do which is raised by stress sounds like it will be off the scale! Poor little Sugar Plum, hope she's out of there and on the mend soon.

Well we have brought her home tonight and she is growling,hissing and spitting, we are going to have a worrying few days waiting for all her results to come back.

Paws crossed here T having just been on the bad end of this test result last week hope all is well for the feisty Miss Sugar Plum :hug:
Another good food we have found is Royal Canin for hepatic lipidosis - mixed with the staple of tuna in spring water and heated in micro for 10 seconds - Gems favourite today!

I'm so pleased she's home now, even if in a seriously bad mood surely it has to help being home. Good luck for the test results too.

She`s more ferocious than ever this morning, she ate about 2 teaspoons of wet overnight and the same again for breakfast. Heres a pic I took this morning and also pics of her brothers Ginger Ninja and Grasshopper,3rd brother (Figaro)refused to look at camera, Figaro was Sugar Plums Pen mate and is missing her badly and currently hiding inside his bed.
This test is worrying as we have Sugar Plum plus 3 brothers and also Paddy Junior now 8 weeks who I handreared all from the same feral mother. The good thing is they have all been strictly isolated so if Sugar Plums tests are bad there will only be 4 more to test.

A little good news today, Sugar Plum has tested negative for Toxoplasmosis.Still waiting for the dreaded coronavirus results.

Good news on the toxo result hope the next one is good to all paws and fingers crossed here. Having been through this I hope all is negative and that she is just off colour and feeling lousy the only way a feral can!

Desley I know better than to worry over titre levels but in Sugar Plums case there is cause for concern if result is positive.

We finally got Sugar Plums results this evening; Coronavirus Titre =40 which means she has been in contact and overcome it,therefore she is FIP negative, I am so relieved.

Well, we'll have to ensure she isn't disappointed then, won't we? I've got some Animonda Carny Blip won't (after all) eat and I am thinking of taking a couple of days off to do my own thing... ;)

I'm so glad that this feisty little lady is going to be ok
She may take a while but with you is in the best place, Blue has stopped hissing but still runs if we stand up - he's been inside for nearly 11 weeks now so its still early days for Miss Sugarplum
I am still waiting to touch Ace after 3 years but he does like me with food in my hand! :shocked:
