Title: orange spot in eye
Post by: sixfurballs on September 25, 2008, 14:10:04 PM
I mentioned this in the meet my new furballs thread but realised would be better posted on its own here.

Lexie has an orange spot in one eye which you should be able to see in the photo. I was told at the shelter that a vet said it wasn't a problem, that it could spread right across her eye but wouldn't cause any eyesight problems. Has anyone heard of this before?

Hiya, Max has had these twice before, both times they've appeared for no apparent reason, have not caused him any bother at all, and have faded over a matter of weeks and disappeared.

The first time Max had an antibiotic jab and some eye drops, but I think that was more of a precaution as he has FIV, but the follow-up visits didn't show anything, and we never found out what caused it to be honest.  We think it was a burst blood vessel.

A bit of a mystery  :shy:

If you're worried it might be worth following up with your own vet as well?

Maybe you could call your vet Lesa and ask over the phone if he knows what it is rather than paying for another office visit....I know you are WELL known in your vet's office

Then if your vet is concerned about it you could always take Lexie in for a check up.

Dino was at the vet on Friday for another re-check so took Lexie and Purdey in as well. Vet happy with them and not concerned with Lexie's eye. Likely is a little burst blood vessel but said may also just be something she was born with. Just said to keep an eye on it (no pun intended).

Oh well that is good that your vet feels it's not of concern.  I know you will keep an eye on it (no pun intended).
