Title: Best type of cat flap
Post by: JackSpratt on September 23, 2008, 18:14:18 PM
Further to our recent intruder situation (big ginger tom - no idea where he lives!) I've decided we need a "selective" cat flap. I've just been on the PetPorte site and discovered Carries microchip is unlikely to work with their product even if I saved until I had enough! So it's a choice of infra red or electromagnetic.

Opinions on the best type, please. :)

What a shame about the Petporte. I had the magnetic ones before the Petporte and they worked fine until the magnets in the flap gave in after about 3 years and the cats lost the collars quite a few times which meant needed new magnets. Problem with them is that if the intruder has a magnet it can still get in - I think the infrared one is the same.

I don't think he even has a collar - but looks well cared for. I think he's just a cheeky opportunist!
