Title: The curse the clingy cat
Post by: Susanne (urbantigers) on September 21, 2008, 21:32:54 PM
It's nice to have an affectionate cat but does anyone else sometimes get a bit frustrated with their clingy cats?  I mean, I love my little Jaffa cake more than words can say but at times he drives me up the wall being so clingy.  Today he just won't leave me alone.  He's been climbing all over me all day and it's driving me mad!  I can't sit down in front of the tv or the computer without him sitting on me or leaning against me.  His back claws are long too so it's rather painful when he sits on me!  I'm trying to sort out some travel directions on the pc now as I'm working at a different library tomorrow, but the little lad is sat in front of the screen purring his head off!  I feel guilty moving him but I have to sort this stuff out.  Mosi's actually being quite quiet at the moment (which is actually a bit worrying!) but Jaffa won't let me out of his sight.  It's nice that he wants to be with me, but does he have to be literally on top of me all the time?!

Yep, I have the same trouble with Carrie Bagpuss. She always picks her moments too....."oh, you're eating? Can I just try and sit on your knee...?" ;)

Loving them doesn't mean you have to let them get away with everything .....wait, does it?! :scared:

Oh I fully sympathise, I regularly get tripped up by a cat weaving round my ankles as I go about my bits and pieces. All through the night at various intervals I have to fight with Dave to get him to stop trying o remove my scalp by kneading my head and purring madly. Then there is the hour before I have to get up when he does all in his power to make that time arrive quicker, lying on my face, sticking a nose in my ear/eye/nostril/mouth, more kneading, all while purring very loudly.

Remind me again why I love them so much?

ok, I feel really guilty now.  He's been mithering me all day but as soon as I posted the above he disappeared.  He's now sitting on top of the kitchen cabinets as high up as he can get (he's actually sitting in a laundry basket full of laundry which I put on top of the high up kitchen units) sulking.  I am feeling so guilty I am going to have to go and entice him down by offering cuddles

Willow is like that. She follows everywhere. If I have the laptop, she sits sideways in front of it and gets nasty if she is disturbed by typing. In the morning, she insists on lying on me in bed. With my stomach the way it is, it can be painful - again she gets spiteful if I try to move her. Alice is the queen of guilt trip. I am sitting on a sofa in the basment and she is on the other one - she just stares as if to say "poor me, I'm so neglected"  :(

Count yourself lucky, I have three "clingy" cats  ;D

Frankie won't let me get near the PC in the bedroom for miaowing and bashing against the chair and wants to jump up on my lap whenever I sit down on the settee. Alfie loves nothing better than to milk-tread with all his force on my tummy for ages until my stomach hurts and Suzie is waiting by my bed to greet me with a few very loud miaows when I retire and loves nothing better than to sit or lay  bolt upright on my chest/stomach or on my pillow purring loudly many times throughout the night. Would I change anything, would I stuff  ;D ;D

Cheers

Leigh

Jaffa came down from on top of the kitchen cabinets pretty quickly.  I think he only went up there to guilt trip me  :shify:  Tonight the pair of them are competing for my attention.  Dunno what it is - maybe they like my new washing powder or something - but they are both all over me today.  Oh what it is to be popular! I'm typing around Jaffa at the moment - he's sat on my lap and between my arms.  Not the easiest position for typing.

Ducha is the bedcat and sleeps either on my head or leaning against me in one shape or form. he likes to push me with his back leg and still have a scratch in my eyebrow from sometime last week   :shify:

We have our parent stalkers and currently typing this looking through the screen at Minmin the raggie, Puma on my knee, and Miss Cissy on top of the printer, and the Doodles Archie and Beijing playing in the storage baskets under the desk.  Cougar is on the bookcase, Smudger on the other chair, Ragmuffin in in her cardboard box on the futon and Phoenis is guarding the study door!

Robin has Gem on his knee and about 5 others on the couch next to him, the others are in the lounge or conservatory and its no wonder visitors sit on the floor - Sky is on the hard floor as Storm and Clio are in his crate, Brady is in his bed on top of the crate and Jazz and Maverick are in Sky's bed and Tiger is in Jazz's bed!

Rogue and Max are still out so no doubt they will be doing the you left me out in the cold routine shortly!

All 4 of mine are like that at times and as much as I love cuddling them and having them with me it can be a pain. Meeko was especially clingy last night. I was doing my little girl's reading with her and he's climbing on top of the book, talking on msn and he's pawing at the keyboard deleting what I've typed. . . . Still, wouldn't be without him and his naughtiness for the world  :Luv:
