Title: Tiffy went to the bridge today
Post by: Philip on September 15, 2008, 21:59:44 PM
Sadly, I lost my 19 year old Tiffy today.

He gently fell asleep in my arms at 18.45.

He had CRF for 3 years and with my vets help in teaching me to give subcutaneous fluids, I was able to keep him stable until 4 days ago

A very special cat. He had been in my life through so many highs and lows.

He was loving and gently. Always pleased to see me.

Tiffy, I just wanted to say how much I love you and how hard it was today to make that decision. A decision that is so final and cannot be reversed. But I knew you were suffering and I couldn't allow it to continue. I hope you can understand. I wanted you to be free of the pain and sickness you felt.

You took a piece of me with you today. I will never be the same. I will never forget you. You will always be there in my heart. You made me a better person. You showed me unconditional love. A gift that is so precious and treasured. You will always be treasured old friend. Never forgotten. Always there.

God bless you my darling. Play hard at the bridge my special baby.

These photos were taken in the last hour before I took him on his last journey......

I'm so sorry, Philip.

What a fighter Tiffy was - three years with such a serious illness.

:RIP: Tiffy, you'll always be loved.

So very sorry for your loss Philip  :(  It's such a hard decision to make and know how you must be feeling although releasing him from discomfort was certainly a kindness. Once again we are going thru the same thing at the same time. Hope you are finding the furries are providing as much comfort as ours are. Tiffy had such a long and happy life with you. Take care.

 :RIP:  Tiffy x

I haven’t left
I sat on your bed last night
I came to have a peep,
I could see that you were crying
and you found it hard to sleep,

I Purred to you softly
as you brushed away a tear,
its me’ I haven’t left you, I’m well
I’m fine, I’m here,

I was close to you at breakfast
I watched you pour your tea,
you were thinking of the many times
your hands reached out to me,

I walked with you towards the house
as you fumbled for your key,
I gently put my Paw on you
I smiled and said 'its me'

you looked so very tired
and sank into a chair,
I tried so hard to let you know
that I was standing there,

its possible for me to be
so near to you every day,
to say to you with certainty
I never went away,

you sat there very quietly then smiled
I think you knew,
in the stillness of the evening
I was very close to you,

now the day is over.....I Purr
and watch you yawning,
and say good night, god bless,
i'll see you in the morning,

and when the time is right for you
to cross the brief divide,
i'll rush across to greet you
and we'll stand side by side,

I have so many things to show you
there is so much for you to see,
be patient, live your journey out
then come home to be with me.

I'm so very sorry to see this thread. I read the thread about Tiffy and the decision you were facing. Such a difficult thing to face. Tiffy was a very beautiful cat but his eyes look so sad in those last pictures.

Lots of hugs from the fourfurballs and hope Tiffy is having a wonderful time on the Bridge. xx

Some of my favourite pictures of my special boy. He was 16 when I took these.

Dear Tiffy.

When I was 16 I lost my dad. I planted a seed in the ground and cried tears of sadness. Those tears of sadness made the seed grow and you were born.

I have spent many happy years with you. Even though there have been many, it was still too short a time. It would have been however long we had together.

Now it was you're time to go. Like a flower in autumn, the flowers and leaves dropped and the cycle of life turned full circle.

I have tears of sadness again, but I understand you haven't left me. The cycle of life still goes on all around me. The fires in you're eyes lights up in mine.

Please wait for me. Because one day I will be with you again. It's not my time quite yet. I have still much to do and learn. I have to continue the work you and my other fur babes inspire me to do. I still have lots of love to give others. I know you will understand.

God bless you my special baby.

You're daddy xxx

On the flying without wings theme. Decided to get on the piano and try and play something I could use at his cremation.

Came up with this.

Tiffy's cremation is tomorrow at 11:30 am.

I'm taking him to the dignity pet crematorium in Hampshire. I used them for Jemilla (Tiffy's sister) and was very happy with the service.

There is a special room you can have a ceremony in and play music.

Feels so weird right now.

Have a special basket coffin I can put his body in.

I  have Tiffy's ashes at home with me now.

We had a little time together before his body was taken.

I dug up the courage to see his body and was able to give him a last kiss goodbye.

I didn't do that with his sister Jemilla. Seeing his body wasn't as bad as I thought it would be.

It was nice to be close to his physical presence one last time.

I thought the urn being black was appropriate as Tiffy was a black cat. (with white whiskers).

Its sitting next to his sister jemilla's urn so they are together.

Its time…

Nothing prepares you for when it’s time.
That moment when you know
All is hopeless
All that’s left is suffering

That sweet head laid low
Eyes looking sullen and sad
You see the signs
But it just can’t be

But it is. It’s time
Suddenly it’s crept up
Not enough warning
Never enough

Its time to be brave
To show how much you really care
To give that final gift of love
That scars you forever

So cherish the time you have
Each sweet moment together
The special bond you have
With one another

Show them how much they mean to you
Appreciation for the unconditional love they give
How beautiful and special they are
Never faulting in their love for you

Because one day. Its time
And although you will never be ready
The memories are there forever
And the bond will never be broken

This is written in memory of all the fur babes
Who we have loved and lost
For as it was once said
It was better to have loved and lost
Than to never have loved at all

A beautiful tribute Phillip.
I think I remember when you lost Jemilla, I spent a lot of time posting on catchat at that time, and I believe it was at about the same time I lost one of my beautiful girls.
It is clear that you loved them both very much and they were both very lucky cats to have such a devoted friend.
