Title: advice needed please
Post by: bonnielass on September 13, 2008, 17:18:19 PM
Hi i have been searching for my missing cat WIZZY for almost 5 months now,ive done all the usual things, posters media vets etc lost/found registers and every 2/3 days i check websites listing found cats,, a few weeks ago i was told by an animal communicator that he was in a rescue somewhere with a possible rehoming imminent and also there was another animal there called either Cookie or Cocoa,, again i rang other rescues or e-mailed especially a couple who had cats in with those names, i was told that he wasnt there , i even sent photos of him, well today i have been going through all the sites again and on C.C i was browsing through the roll of honour of cats rehomed and i came across a picture of a cat who is the double of Wizzy, who has been rehomed by a local rescue, hes listed as a big friendly tabby, Wizzy was a big cat and this rescue is only about a mile from where i live, the trouble is they say its not him and wont give me any details, now there is a chance its not him but the resemblance is uncanny, can anyone advise me what i should do now as if this is WIZZY  i want him back,i did notify this particular rescue when he disappeared back in april

Cant understand why the rescue is so sure its not Wizzy.

I think the best thing to do would be to go and see them for a chat.
Tell them this dilemma is causing you great agony. If they are true animal lovers they should understand and be more helpful.

Wishing you all the best

Do you have pics of Wizzy. If so perhaps you will post on here and also a link to the site where you have seen the pic and we will take a look. If we agree with you perhaps you can the have a word with Citizens advice.  Another good reason why it is have our little ones chipped I think.

I would personally go down to the rescue centres and take photos with you of Wizzy.   People can be really rude on phones and I always think it is better to speak face to face especially in a situation like this plus you can show them pictures.   You would think they would want to help you find your cat - or are they not bothered because at the end of the day someone is taking him anyway?!  Hope you get on ok.  Good luck.

Wishing you all the best. It may be difficult but try and keep calm
They will probably not want to tell you who he was rehomed to :(

How awful, I would go down personally, as previously suggested, armed with photographs and ask to speak to the boss.  They should not be rude to you that's unprofessional of them.  Best of luck

Just got back from the rescue place, they were not very helpful at all :censored:anyway it turns out this cat was found 4 days after Wizzy disappeared and was rehomed to unknown people on the 18th may, they kept saying it would be a shame to uproot him now if its your cat as he will have settled with his new home,im afraid i wasnt very polite at that  i told them that i needed to see this cat for myself, the answer was well you wouldnt really be able to tell if it was my cat as all tabby,s look the same, i will not repeat what i said to that :-[ i tried hard to be calm and diplomatic but it didnt work im afraid) anyway ive told them i want a complete photo of this cat asap so i can bring one of wizzy and we can compare them to ascertain if it is or isnt,  they asked me to come back on friday or even next week, my reply i will call you tuesday after work and fully expect the photo to be here waiting, their reply,,, we would prefer you not to come in the evening as we have enough of people ringing and calling in the day, i explained that i will be at work in the daytime as im out on private hire all the rest of this week and wont be finishing until after 6pm,they still dont want me to come in the evening, but needless tyo say i will be going round every evening if needs be until i see this cat, altho with the attitude im getting i wouldnt be surprised if they dont photograph a different cat and try and fob me off, anyway will keep you informed of what happens tomorrow.

:censored: nightmare.  I would ring the citizens advice bureau to see where you stand legally.

Yes, I'm sure the new owners would be upset at loosing such a lovely cat but at the end of the day he's your baby and you want him back.

yes I would feel for these kind ppl who have homed a rescue cat and may have to return it :( but I'm sure they would understand in this circumstance
At the end of the day, If this is Wizzy, you have the right to have her returned to you, and not getting any help from the rescue ppl to help solve this
quickly and have closure is a downright disgrace  >:( !!!

I dont think it's asking too much for Information on the new owners phone number etc, etc. but then they should be doing that for you !!!

Keep us updated hon

I would definitely go get some advice, as suggested.   I would have thought, difficult as it may be, that the new family would be very understanding and would want the cat returned to their rightful owner........I would have thought if it was the other way round they would want to know that someone would return their cat to them.

They cant tell you that, data protection etc, what they could do is pass a letter to the new owners from you or ask them to contact you.
They must keep records of some kind, they cant just say "unknown people" or they really are a terrible set up. :luck:

Update on missing cat WIZZY, the cats home is being very negative and unco-operative, but i contacted  Elizabeth Lee-Crowther the animal communicator , she has told me that Wizzy is within 10miles of me, he is with someone called Brian and the name , either lantree or longtree, not sure if its a surname or area also park lane /park road, so i refuse to give up, i have also been on to the local paper  to see if they will print the story in the hope that some one will see the article and come forward, they are getting back to me after lunch ;D i have also put appeals out on Cat Chat - gumtree - so fingers crossed something may come of it

The Chad has agreed to put an appeal out for information :wow: i explained the ongoing saga and told them about the animal communicator and they feel not only will it make a nice human interest story but also hopefully will reveal some information on his whereabouts, so all being well Wizzy will be in the Chad next week ;) meanwhile i will continue to badger the rescue for information :evillaugh: i have also been advised to tell them if they dont co-operate then i will see them in court as i have up to 7 yrs to claim him back if it is him.                                               :thanks: to you all for your support and advice and i will keep you informed of any developments

Update on Wizzy saga, the rescue finally agreed to get photos of the cat, they were brought round yesterday, 6 in total showing every part of the cat, the head and face were identical to Wizzy in fact when i first saw them i thought my search was over ;D but on seeing the rest of the body on the other photo,s the markings were completely different, wizzy has stripes on his side this cat has spots, i cant tell you how  :( this made me, even the rescue said on seeing my photo of Wizzy,s face they actually thought it was him for a moment, so now it all depends on the local paper putting this appeal out  for information based on the details given to me by the Beth  (     animal communicator ) so im keeping my fingers crossed

Aw - hopefully the newspaper article will generate some information from the public.  I hope you find him - I can only imagine what you must be going through.
If the rescue centre had just taken photos in the first place then that search would have ended there instead of them being so difficult and unhelpful - I still can't believe they were so un-coperative.

Just recieved an e-mail from the local paper, the editor doesnt believe in this communication malarky so will not be doing the story about Wizzy afterall :(.ive sent him a reply telling him to watch the Russell Brand show later this month as Beth Lee- Crowther will be on there ,she has done a reading for his cat,the show is called Ponderland
