Delphi, my rescue ragdoll has lost a lot of weight.
She hasn't been eating properly.
She has diarrhoea.
Took her to the vets yesterday for blood tests and am collecting stool samples.
The vet couldn't rule out FIP so of course I'm a really scared right now and cried a lot last night.
My poor baby.
The vet did say it was probably due to Irritable bowel syndrome or perhaps an infection/parasites.
I really hope so.
Please everyone sending healing hugs and purrs for her. I have only had a few months with her and now she has a forever home with me I would love to have her get better and have some happiness.

Sorry to hear about Delphi Philip  hope its something simple that can be treated. Its horrible waiting for test results isnt it? how long did they say they would take?
-
Should get blood results tomorrow.
Vet asked for stool samples over a couple of days so will take them in tomorrow.
Its funny. She sometimes has a formed stool but then other times its brown liquid.
-
SENDING TONS OF GOOD VIBES X X
-
Fingers crossed for her.
-
Hope Delphi is feeling better soon. Good luck at the vets x
-
Hope the results show something easily treatable and hope Delphi is feeling better
-
fingers crossed and hugs to you all

have just seen this. I really hope that the tests come back quickly as waiting is awful - and that your worst fears are totally unfounded. We all know what it's like to be so scared. Hoping for good news for you later today.
-
Sending lots of good luck vibes over to you and Delphi, hope she's feeling much better soon xx

We're having the same wait with our rescue cat Arwyn. He's been off his food, sickness/diarrhoea and very lethargic for the past few days, so yesterday after an antibiotic injection on Monday did nothing, he ended up staying in at the vets so they can do x-rays, blood tests and so on. I have to ring at 2 if I've heard nothing by then.
The vet was still hopeful last night that it''s just an infection, or something he's eaten, but you can't help but start to think of worse possibilities.
I hope the vet gets to the bottom of what's causing Delphi to be ill and that she makes a speedy recovery.
-
Hoping Delphi and Arwyn are both OK
-
Delphi seems a little better.
She is eating and following her bath (like all the others) looks and feels better.
Thank you to all of you for you're love and prayers.

That's good to hear keep it up Delphi

Got Delphi's test results back.
She has at some point been exposed to the FIP virus as she has antibodies.
As you know this doesn't necessarily mean that she has FIP as most cats don't go on to develop FIP but it means I need to monitor her closely maybe for the rest of her life. I have my other cats to think about also.
She is gaining weight and her stools are now formed again but not always.
I cant believe this has come at the same time as losing Tiffy.
-
The problem with FIP is most cats will test positive for it.....thats why it is so hard to diagnose a real case.
I am sure she will be fine, as you say just keep an eye on her xxx
-
Do you mean she has the coronavirus Philip? Charlie tested positive for that too. What were her readings? It is a small minority of cats in which it mutates to FIP so try not to worry too much, although I do.
-
Yes. Sorry. She tested positive to Coronavirus antibodies.
You can't help but worry.
Or at least I can't...

I do sympathise completely  I felt like that when little Gwyn tested positive with high coronavirus antibodies last November - was convinced she was going to get FIP (despite knowing all the theory about how unilkely it was!), but anyway, nearly a year on, she's fine, the others are fine, although they also showed symptoms at the time (mild sneezing and diarrhea). But yes, I still worrry too.
What has your vet suggested for treatment?
-
Charlie's reading was 326 and I freaked out big time. I was convinced he would get FIP. I still worry as one of the major triggers for it mutating is stress and Charlie gets stressed so easily. However I have to keep telling myself that it is unlikely, What were Dephi's readings Philip?
-
I dont know the actual readings.
Will have to ask my vet.
Are the readings significant.
AS Delphi is improving an gaining weight and looks bright, my vet has suggested leaving things as they are for now.
-
Just spoke to my vet.
Her feline coronavirus readings are at the higher end of the laboratories scale which she says means either she has been infected recently or that there is an active infection going on at this time. She said the anitbody levels tend to drop over time.
She did reassure me that this doesn't mean Delphi will go on to develop FIP.
-
Just to say, Gwyn's readings were over 2,000, and she's fine.
-
I'm glad Gwyn is OK Gillian.
Thanks guys for all the reassurance.
-
Fingers crossed it is just a coincidence, and that she continues to improve - some tests can end up worrying unnecessarily.
-
Thanks Desley.
Here she is tonight. She does look better to me.
She has forgiven me for the bath the other night bless.
-
Aww, such a pretty girl
-
She's a gorgeous little babe.
I'm sooooo lucky.
-
Wow she's a cutie
-
Hope Delphi is feeling better today and you too
-
How is Delphi doing Philip and you too?
-
Delphi is nearly 3kg again (2.93).
I have veterinary scales at home which comes in handy.
She was down to 2.52kg so thats good news.
She's eating well and stools are formed.
Thank you for asking.
As for me. Well I am trying to keep busy. Tiffy's cremation is on Thursday.
-
Glad Delphi is putting her weight back on. I will be thinking of you on Thursday.
-
Glad she is putting weight on again
