Had a call out to take in a stray this afternoon; asked the caller to bring her to me,just as they carried her through my gate a huge rainbow appeared, needless to say I called the little girl Rainbow.
I settled Rainbow into a pen and quickly examined her . Rainbow a long haired tortie of middle age was badly matted and unable to stand or lie down, the stench coming from her mouth was putrid, her bones were visibly poking out and she was having difficulty with her breathing, I then noticed a huge lump on her belly and decided we needed the assistance of an out of hours vet.
Just returned from the vet and heartbreakingly the only kindness we could bestow on Rainbow was a few gentle words as she was gently euthanased,Kay the vet was appalled by her condition and says it is a case of long term neglect, but the thing that shocked us both was the size of the rock solid tumour which was bigger than the biggest orange I have ever seen.
Little Rainbow you`ve left a mighty big pawprint on my heart and I only wish we could have done more, hopefully you are now safe forever.

Rainbow, you only knew the kindness a person can bestow for too brief a time. I hope you took with you the feeling of that small amount of love, you deserved so much more.
RIP,Little One.

This post is so shocking. RIP Rainbow. Poor little mite.

RIP Rainbow, play painfree on the Bridge. You may not understand yet but some humans really loved you for the short time they knew you.
-
What a sad story, RIP little one, but at least you went with someone who loved you, and were allowed to go peacefully and with dignity.

How sad, I just don't know what it is this year, each year we think it cannot get any worse and each year it does.
-
How sad that little Rainbow suffered so long. You released her from pain at last, Teresa.

Rainbow was lucky in that she met you and got to feel love in her last few hours here - what a sad story...but also quite beautiful.
