should i be worried that floss has never made a sound?
doesn't even attempt to meow.
Tepe however meows for anything...cuddles, food, toys, food, a tickle, xfactor, food!

Hmmm, worth mentioning to the vet while having a normal check up or when getting vaccinations maybe, but cats do vary. Growing up we have a maine coon who was utterly mute, he did make mouth movements so seemed to understand the vague concept of miaowing but never got there until he was an adult and then suddenly he started, he was a very vocal chatty cat then.... bizarre
-
gosh that is bizarre!
i will def mention it to the vetsnext visit
Thanks x

Tiggy used to do the 'open mouthed but no sound' meowing, she was handreared so I always wondered if it was a result of meowing but getting nothing as the vets were busy so not bothering to try anymore!
-
Summer does it when she wants something. She can meow when she wants to but seems to know that she gets the same reaction without the effort. She probably thinks "why bother"

Sasa is a squeaker but if you listebn carefully often its a very hiugh piched little meow. She only doies it when she definately wants attention , like Misa come with me ;D
If I trap her, shes semi feral, to go to vet then she cries pityfully.
I also had a ginger cat who moved in with me in London but had to get Cp to rehome cos my cat was attacking him and he purred but never made any other noise.
When Cp came with a carrier and I put him in he was meowing and crying his head off , so he had been able to all along, broke my heart :(

My Bridge baby Madison could never meow. She would open her mouth but nothing came out.
-
Bella will meow at anything especially if I'm not sitting in quite the right position for her to get comfy :evillaugh: Izzy on the other hand chirrups constantly but has the meow like she smokes 80 a day....very raspy with very little noise, and its rare, only at dinner time
-
i find it fascinating how they all differ, i just assumed that all cats meow. floss doesn't even attempt to meow just content with life and has no reason to question his mummy or want or need anything i guess  (head swelling much?)
in that case i suppose tepe must not be a happy furbaby :(
just another question...
if i sit on the florr they come over for cuddles and fall asleep on my lap but when i am on the sofa they don't come up or if they do it is only for 30 seconds, any thoughts why not? i don't think they are scared of heights because they have now discovered the kitchen work tops!!! cheeky monkey's :naughty:
-
Maybe they just cant get comfortable or just dont like it there!
-
mine are the complete opposite as hard as I try I cant get them to sleep on anything BUT the sofa or me!!! they even whinge if nobody is there to flop over against :tired:
-
I've given up trying to figure out why they like somethings and not others. Both my boys love cuddling when I am in bed in the mornings, on my head, on my chest, around my head, next to me. But Digby is really wary of being on the sofa with me. He will sit on the back or the arms but not too close unless treats are involved. But he loves cuddles on the floor.
Doesn't seem logical to me but obviously he has his reasons!

Mine two are real cubble bums but every morning when they come into the bedroom they won't settle there. They seem to see the bed as a massive plaything and anything in it is fair game :tired:
