Fred the aimless wanderer had a trip to vet with the ancient Samantha on thursday. He went to be microchipped. Sam has cystitis (we hope). Because I wanted Sam diagnosed, I insisted upon seeing the best vet at the practise: Martin Bate, who only works part-time now (hope he's not retiring :( ) He thought that the likelihood is that Sam has cystitis, but she's going back on wednesday to check she's improved just incase it's something more serious like kidney failure, hyperthyroidism, or cancer :P
She had an injection of antibiotics, steroids (I think he said they were non anti inflammatory in case she has kidney failure) and MORPHINE  She was happy after that. She doesn't like me putting antibiotics down her throat but the little butter stole all the cheese I was using to hide the pills in! Going out for more later - much easier than getting scratched. She's slowly improving and showing me by doing big wees round the bedroom  :evillaugh: She let me know she was ill by doing little drops round the bedroom, so I suppose she thinks that worked.......!!!!!
I'm allowing Victoria out now, even though she won't let me put her collar on. She's chipped and I know she'll come home. Fred is still grounded until he either lets me put the collar on or seems more bonded.
Just thought I'd update.

Touch wood, Sam seems a lot better and is eating well. She's reconciled herself to taking antibiotics. She goes back for a check tomorrow, but I think the vet will think tests unnecessary.
Fred did another disappearing act!!! >:( >:(
This time he went for only 24 hours, quite a bit of which was spent snoozing on the flat roof of my bathroom. He came back through a cat flap which was propped open by tins of cat food. He had such a "I know I've been a bad lad" look on his face that I just gave him some food. :Luv2:
