We have been doing a feral trapping and have now hopefully one last female to trap, the man said he was really impressed with us and would like to give us a very special donation, he walked up the garden looked at his plants and returned with................
A Courgette  now what on earth do I do with it,technically it belongs to the cats and I dont like them anyway. Do you think the vet would accept it towards the bill? or maybe we could attempt to bank it
-
That did make me smile so thanks as desperate for a smile today
:evillaugh:
-
bizarre - perhaps you could organise a really quick raffle before it goes off!! I'd eat it T, the cats won't touch it and they wouldn't begrudge you I'm sure!
-
A courgette, as in one courgette :shify: :shify: :shify:
I dont like them but arent they small, so you would need a few courgettes for a meal?
-
they are small but its a shame to waste it when you can't even gift aid it!
-
Make sure you declare it on your tax return. Such largesse
I suppose he meant well...
-
I was expecting you to say a few k. bless
-
where is the secret millionaire when you need them??
-
Lol bless
-
where is the secret millionaire when you need them??
f only EH :sigh:
-
And to think we though we were hard done by when someone gave is about 32p or was it 37p for 2 cats.
-
 Tight fisted old git :evillaugh:
I passed the School charity parking on Saturday so went into the school to say hello to the fundraisers. I asked if people were generous and she said most are. At that moment, I man came past after parking his car and asked it 90p was enough >:(
It is the first car park in town. Also has the advantage of having security guards (CP ladies) also the pay & displays charge 90p an hour - I hate tight wads >:(
-
I'm lucky like that living in a more rural location. I've had tomotoes, asparagus and some lovely fresh free ranges eggs as thank you pressies for my work with CP. You should come over here, Teresa! We could make the mother of all omelettes!
-
Ahhh I think that's really sweet bless him. It might just be a courgette to us .. but he will have probably put plenty of love and attention into it and as they say .. it's the thought that counts.
Now as to what to do with it ... ummm ... I don't think I can on a public forum ;)
-
Must admit this man is in his 80`s and I really thought it was very sweet of him. Most folk dont even say thank you.
-

Is like der one dat Pedro can see
Is trooooo, is not der p's

der one fer me...................
(okay - well Marra might be Geordie for "friend", but I is allowed some poetic licence, and I'm sure this old chap meant it in the best posisble taste - give what you can should be our watchword...... )
Ps - when I was a kid and we had "Harvest festival" collections, everyone used to end up donating a vegetable marrow - everyone grew them, no-one ate them....... I suspect the same marrow did the rounds year after year.................
-
give what you can should be our watchword...... )
You know, that should be everyones watchword, Sue... if only it was.
-
I know. We'd all have an armful of marrows...... (what the *bleep* :scared: ?)
-
I like stuffed marrow :scared:
-
Sam - you don't! I've never knowed anyone who actually eats the bloomin things! Did you grow up in the north Tyneside area? Did they make you eat them? I bet they did. I bet you gagged and struggled, but they told you they was good for you....? You poor lady........ :care: I sends help. You hold on. Okay? :ok: Stay there......
-
Aww, it is the thought that counts, bless him.
-
  No really I do like it ... well I like it the way my mum does it.
I was brought up in Leicestershire (although I was born in Yorkshire - Beverley, Hull).
-
I have to put my hands up and confess I love marrow! :hungey: I could eat a whole meal of nothing but marrow with a little freshly grated pepper sprinkled on it. :gimme: :blow kiss:
Does that make me a weirdo? :ooops:
-
Yes
-
I thought it might. I'll get me coat... :sneakin: :sigh: :evillaugh:

This is bizarre! Never in my life have I met or spoken with anyone who ever professed to loving marrow, and yet, here are three in one ethernet space  And there was us - all those marrows, and no-one would eat them.....

-
my mum used to stuff them with mince, never gave it to me to try though! I've never tasted it, probably just as well my mum is a terrible cook!
-
:evillaugh: Dawn.
Mum used to make stuffed peppers with mince. They were scrummy. Saying that I think I have to find a new recipe and make some. But with marrow. Yum yum yum!

This Courgette is starting to annoy me, I still dont know what to do with it and I hate waste.

Olives we dont waste pennies on such horrible things; I have asked Mr Courgette to go away but he is ignoring me. Anyone know of a Courgette Rescue
-
Yeppy......its called the recycle bin :shify:
-
slice it up with some other par-cooked veges then put it in a pan with some beaten eggs - salt, pepper, fritata!!! YUM! A courgette from a keen gardener is a gift indeed - hope he doesn't use chemicals though...
It was a kind gesture, even if we know that anyone growing courgettes will have had a glut of them by now. There are lots of yummy things you can do with them T!! :wow:
-
Introducing Mr Courgette, we wanted to offer him Free to Good Home however there appears to be slicers, fryers and cannibals about so have decided to ask for a donation. If not rehomed by Friday pm he will go on the compost heap.
-
I will sponsor him! Will he need to be neutered?
-
I will sponsor him! Will he need to be neutered?
I just looked at his picture and wondered if he was pregnant
-
Noooo! We're going to end up on Poo Watch for Mr.Courgette!!!
I love marrow as well - can I join the Purrs Marrow Supporters Club? :evillaugh:
-
Oh - he is wunnerful! :yesss: He must be allowed ter go free........ :wish:
Look at those soulful eyes........ I thought Sam would be up for re-homing this litle feller. :sad no: He doesn't look like he takes up much space, and I bet he doesn't eat anything at all.
I weeps for the courjet. :bye:
-
 I had to sneak back on for another look. :Luv2:
-
We are all just plain barking mad.... :agree:
Dear heaven's above! 5000 years of human civilisation and we end up here??? I can't believe I just spent 5 minutes Googling 'Vegetable Rescues' just to see if there was one!
-
:evillaugh: :evillaugh: Julie!
-
  Loving Mr Courgette!
Do you have a Cat TV.. ermm fish tank? Courgettes are really good for goldfish, mine get some every weekend as a little treat and they go mad for it ;D

Julie do you think you could try again, we took one of the neutered ferals back last night and he gave us a bag of cooking apples
-
Ooooo - apple crumble! :hungey:
-
He's moving in the right direction now
-

Well, I was going to suggest you just fritter this latest donation away but on second thoughts that's a half baked idea - which is all you can get from me at the moment as I've been at work all day and my brain is puree'd and the laptop is about to run out of juice. Why not simply drop them off to the local Constabulary and ask for them to be taken into custardy? :shify:
-
Have you been on the cider Julie? :shify:
-
Have you been on the cider Julie? :shify:
Are you you being saucey, Mark? Careful or I might get the pip... :evillaugh:
-
All too clever for me but cookers , that sounds great and I will swap some for me eaters
-
.
-
These generous donations have helped more people than I'd imagine the donater thought possible, as a direct result of reading about the apple donation I now have an apple and blackberry crumble bubbling away in the oven as I type :drool;
-
What a cute courgette! Lets hope he finds a new home very soon.
I love marrow also. My mum would make stuffed marrow regularly - stuffed with savoury mince. Not had one for ages though. it's one of those veg that is a bit tasteless on it's own so you need to add something tasty to it. It's what you do with it that counts.
Courgettes are yummy chopped and roasted ;D

Apologies, I didn't realise it was against forum rules to mention fundraising for a single cat rescue, sorry if any offence was caused to other rescues. I won't mention fundraising again and will e-mail Teresa direct in future.
-
:evillaugh: Nice one, Carolyn
-
Hmm, perhaps all is not lost from this particular "donation", I've just had an idea as a result of it that might raise some money for Paws Inn :wow: More information soon ;)
Hi Carolyn, have PM'd you ;)
-
I`m obviously missing something here.
