Title: Can Spayed Cats still produce milk?
Post by: Shorty-Leanne on August 25, 2008, 17:20:00 PM
Sorry to keep asking questions.
Maggie 1yr, is mum to Millie 17weeks. Millie has, certainly recently since we brought them home, suckling on Maggie[purely as a comfort thing], I was just wondering if Maggie will/can start producing Milk still with the stimulation or if spayed cats can't produce anymore?

Reason being is Millie tends to suckle when I'm asleep and therefore cant seperate them then and when Im awake she's very persistant. Maggie hasn't as of yet produced Milk either - so thats another reason why the thought came to my mind that she's can't produce any?

Can someone shed some light please  :)

She wont start making it again but if a nursing queen is spayed she can continue to produce. Maggie will let Millie know when its time to stop!

OK *phew*
Maggie was spayed when Millie was about 13 weeks or so, Millie was only kitten left at rescue and seperated from Maggie till he stitches came out, so she wasn't nursing at all anytime near.

Maggie does let Millie know wen she's had enough at times too, so that is good  ;D

Thanks  :thanks:
