hi i am getting worried about my cat. he was my parents but they have moved abroad so puss (great name) has come to me. i adore cats and lost my beloved last one in august so am pleased to have a moggie around again.
He is about 12 years old and has been here for over 24 hours and has not yet used the litter tray for anything? surely he must have been the toliet? i have checked the whole house for wet patches and smells but to no avail.
He seems happy enough, has eaten and is purring away although he is an outdoorsy cat and obviously i am keeping him in for a few weeks. He also only drinks rainwater but with not going out he obviously can't.
do u think he is ok? he was my cat before i moved out of my parents 4 yrs ago so he is very comfortable with me.
any advice greatly appreciated.

I would not worry to much for a day or so. we have many cats that come into rescue and for the first couple of days don't go and when they do they almost fill the tray.

thanks so much. will see how he goes. at least i know it happens to others

:welcome: Sara
If Puss only drinks rain water, he might prefer filtered or bottled water while you're keeping him in? It'll have less of a 'chemical' taste.
PS What does he look like?
-
i haven't tried that. will put some down.
Puss is totally black with a cute little face and is a little fatty, i think my mum gave him a bit much food!!! although he is a very lazy cat.

I love black and black-and-white cats! (You may have spotted the reason why ;))
Do let us know how he gets on...
-
i will most definately.
i love all cats, my last 2 were both ginger, but the hair was unbearable!!!
i would have loads if hubby would let me!! ;)

If you lived here you could put a dish outside and catch loads of rain water for him, dont know where you are and whether you have rain like us ;D

Any update on Puss today, Sara?

Is Puss used to using a tray? He may appreciate some soil sprinkled ontop ( it is messy tho!) if hes that much of an outdoor boy.
Before you let him out i reccommend you get him microchipped, just incase he gets himself confused!

well i am very pleased today,
i put some soil in the litter tray and he has been the loo thank goodness!!
he seems very happy, even lay in bed with me last night!!
he is not even pestering to go out really, he is flat out in front of the fire.
thank you so much for your help, i will keep him in a couple of weeks before letting him into the back garden
