When you fill it up, it doesn't seem to fill properly and normally ends up with an air bubble so I'm not sure if enough is going in. Also, when you squirt it onto the food, there is always some left in the tube. I have been fully extending the plunger and squirting to get the last bit out. I am worried about under or overdosing - any ideas?

i am having the same issues Mark, but I forgot to ask the vet about it yesterday.

When i do it i attach the tube to the bottle and then hold it up so the bottle is vertically up in the air.....I pull the tube back very slowly and if i get any bubbles i push the tube back up....sometimes i have to do this a couple of times to make sure there arnt any bubbles. (hope that makes sense lol)

I know what you mean, Mark. I do as Michelle does and also squeeze the bottle gently.

Hi Mark
There is always some residual left in the syringe and the calibrations take this into account. I also get air and I do as the others, hold the bottle pointing downwards and put the syringe on an pull back, if air push the lot back and and do it again, usually fills up then ok.

That's what I do as well as that's what the leaflet says to do :evillaugh:
I will try the in/out bit the next time - thanks
What out getting the last bit out? - I fully extend the plunger and push it fast and the last bit sprays out.

I haven't encountered this problem - my gadget cheerfully chucks it all out. Do you wash the syringe out between doses*?
*Note to self: that's such a stupid question, CBlip, this is Mark you're talking to :evillaugh:

I hadn't thought of that :shy: - but there is no gunk in it. I will in future :)
Alice was just sick in the garden twice :( I hope it isn't the Metacam - she isn't sick after eating grass so it's something else. She is back inside and has been sleeping a lot despite being sunny outside. I suppose she was happy to spend all day in the garden versus the attic but now she is downstairs fulltime, she doesn't need to :)

Iv emailled them to clarify, i would imagine the syringe allows for the bit but who knows :-:

Mathers suffered from chronic gingivitis and athriitis and was often prescribed Metacam. I was also unsure whether he was getting the correct dosage and I eventually found the best way to avoid air bubbles was to turn the bottle upside down and wait until the liquid appears at the tip of the bottle before you attach the syringe. Then very slowly fill it to the required amount.

Anyone noticed increased sleeping (If that is possible) and less eating with Metacam. I'm not overly worried as she finished a whole pouch less about 5 chunks this morning but didn't want any lunch - She seems to just want to sleep.

The reverse if anything, Mark. Blip has an increased appetite since having her anal glands expressed and starting on the Metacam for her arthritis last Friday and has become visibly more mobile.
But she does sleep - or at least rest - a lot anyway and I do wonder if she was perhaps slightly more sleepy for the first few days? Hard to call the cause, as the weather was so humid.
-
Mathers did seem to sleep more when he was on Metacam but his appetite was unaffected (nothing could put him off his food!). For the first few days though, he did eat less as I think it takes a while for the body to get used to the introduction of Metacam and I think it made him feel a bit queasy.

anal glands expressed
I forgot that they did that to her again - The reason being that her tail is rarely still. They were empty this time :Luv2:
Dennis thinks it may just be excitement with her as she flicks her tail and purrs at the same time when she gets fussed (often :Luv2: )

The veterinary advisor needs to speak to me as they dont know enough about my animals medical background to reply over email
I only asked if the graduations take into account the bit left in the syringe or should it be shook out.
-
I forgot to say, I asked the vet yesterday and she said it is taken into account - I told her I had been squiting it out but she said it's such a small amount it wouldn't have done any harm - but in future, no need to.

Thanks, i dont really fancy a grilling by their advisor, im not using it at the moment anyway
