A few weeks ago I was asked to take in a cat who had given birth and the feeder believed the babies to be dead. The cat was untouchable so checking for milk was not an option,so I asked that the feeder watch her for a few weeks. Today I think has been the first dry sunny day in ages and lo and behold the little mum turned up with her 5 babies. Claire, Rob and I loaded car with traps which thankfully weren`t needed. Mum is domestic though very timid, the kittens are holy terrors but were in a tiny shed and Rob was able to stick his hand in and grab them, while wearing his thick gardening gloves. So all 6 safely Penned at the Inn. Mum is a little under the weather and kittens sneezing but hopefully they will soon be fine.
Mum is tabby
We have 2 tabby boys and a black/white boy
Girls are pure black and tabby/white. The black girl is the real terror of the litter. Think they are about 7 weeks old.
Names will be revealed by Claire tomorrow.
Special thanks to Claire who did major reshuffle and sterilisation of Pens to squeeze this family in.

Fingers crossed for them all T, and glad you could do a reshuffle for this little family.

Poor mum looks completely worn out :( I am sure she will respond to a good feed and some help with child-rearing, though :Luv:
Good work, Claire :Luv:
-

-
Well done xxxx
Poor mum does look exhausted bless her :Luv:

You have had a busy day, but what a worthwile one

Today has been awful, poor mum cat (Jasmina) was rushed to the vet as the diarhoea kept coming and coming and her temperature was 104 degrees ;she has cat flu but the main concern is sorting out her tummy problems; the poor girl is skin and bone and totally exhausted. She has been taken away from her kittens on vets advice for the following reasons:
1- She would have dehydrated if kittens continued to suckle
2- Evidently kittens suckling mum can produce a hormone which can sometimes make diarhoea even worse.
She has had injections, got tablets ,electrolyte and sensitive food, vet said if she gets any worse she will have to go on a drip.
Her 5 kittens have a vet appointment in the morning.
I think I would have to get a job in an elephant house to clean up more poop than I do now.

Awww bless them - hoping and praying they all do well now. :Luv2:

Aww, the poor family. What a good job they came to you though T, their future otherwise doesn't bear thinking about.
-
Poor mum looks so sorry for herself
-
She doesnt look much bigger than her kittens. :'(
-
She doesn't.
Hope things have picked up for this little family.
-
Poor little lass. She looks hunted. Sending gentle strokes for this Mum. She has beautiful babies. :)
-
It sounds as if this family was rescued in the very nick of time :scared: I hope mother cat responds quickly to treatment.
-
Jasmina (mum cat) is a little brighter this morning and she has eaten a small breakfast. Vet has given all 5 kittens antibiotic injections this morning. I had removed loads of ticks and had 2 tiny ones left to do so decided vet could do it,trouble is the ticks have gone AWOL.
-
poor Jasmina, I hope she continues to improve - do you think she is quite young T?
-
Shes not very old.
-
Poopology yet again
Jasmina has finally produced a very soft lump, she is looking much brighter too. Kittens all doing fine they were so relieved that there was no 4th day of panacur and so refused to hiss. :)
-
Glad they are all doing better
-
All named now
Jasmina is mum
kittens are Ben and Bertie tabby boys, Bumble black/whit boy, Bea black girl, Bess tabby/white girl.
-
Aww - how is mum doing now?
-
Mum is still on medication and prescription food but is bright and alert, lovable, happy and very thin. She cannot go back to her kittens but each kitten visits her 2-3 times a day and she gives Bumble a little lick through the bars, and chatters away to them.
-
Aww, that is good to hear, fingers crossed for her.
-
Mum's looking so much better, Aunty T. She's lost that hunted look she had initially. Her babies are beautiful. :)
