I know Ela found this out but in case anyone missed this, if anyone has to go into hospital or into a care home, their local council has a LEGAL obligation to sort out kenneling. They have no rights to have animals PTS.
The Protection of Property Service is provided by social care under Section 48 of the National Assistance Act 1948. Under this legislation we have a duty to ensure that action is taken to provide temporary protection of your property if you are:
* admitted to hospital
* or, admitted to residential care arranged by us
* or, removed from your home to any other place under Section 47 of the Act.

* or, admitted to residential care arranged by us
That may be a limiting factor? What if someone goes into a residential home that is not arranged by the council.

I would imagine in most cases there would be a social worker involved unless it was a private arrangement made by the family which obviously couldn't be done against the person's will - not sure what would happen there.

but that doesn't mean that the council are arranging it. I would guess that would mean the council choosing the home and sorting it all out. with my mum, a social worker was involved and the council are paying, but we chose the home and arranged it (council opposed it initially). It sounds a bit vague and as though there is leeway for the council to say the act doesn't apply in certain cases.

True - but at least people can pull then up when they are duty bound as it seems a lot of them aren't aware of their responsibilities. It also seems that the act doesn't cover what happens when people die.
