I honestly thought this week couldnt get any worse, but obviously it can!! Hobo was a cat we picked up as a 6-7 year old stray, but it was obvious he was older. He was at the rescue for a while, but then got a bit bothered by it, so he came here in March I think. I think he was only here a few weeks, but I would have to check paperwork. There were no signs of anything like this while he was here, I can only remember him being sick once, but it was only a bit of food, so I didn't think too much of it. i feel sorry for his owners, but at least he is enjoying himself where he is.
-
Life can be very very unfair sometimes! At least he is with owners who obviously love him very much.
-
Sorry to hear that Desley, as Kirst says at least he will be loved 'til the very end.
-
Oh no Des poor Hobo. What a dreadful thing. As the others have said at least he will end his days in the comfort of his forever home surrounded by those who have grown to love him.
-
Oh, that's so sad.
Still, he sounds very happy at the moment - maybe he'll last a while yet! And his days will be lived out with people who love him.
-
So very sad just when Hobo is so happy and settled; but in a strange sort of way I`ll bet Hobo is happy to have such caring people on his side when he needs them most of all.
-
ahh how upsetting but im so glad hobo is with loving caring people and he will have them right up to the end
-
Oh Desley. :(
Hobo might be unlucky with regards to getting such a terrible illness, but the amount of love he has in his new home shines through in the email. I'm glad he gets to spend the last part of his life knowing genuine affection.
-
Oh poor little Hobo and what a kind and lovely family he's got to look after him.
-
Des sometimes these things aren't noticable and I'm so glad he with owners who love him and have visited the vet and are just greatful to have him
he is loved and wanted for however long he has and thats always a plus
-
As sad and unfortunate as the outcome is, I am happy for him that he finally found such a loving, caring family to share and enjoy the rest of his life. It was well deserved. I hope he will enjoy himself until the time comes, and he won't suffer too much when it does. Bless Hobo, his family and Desley.

So sorry to hear about Hobo but as others have said, sometimes these things are hard to detect. Jasmine seem full of life and suddenly went downhill very quickly, she had a mass on her heart and I would never have believed it, she was so young and always so lively :'( At least Hobo has found the loving home he deserves and it sounds as if his mummy and daddy love him very much :Luv2: :Luv2:
-
How sad that he should find such a loving home only to have his life cut short. :'(
At least he is with people who care so much and will make the life he has left full of love. :Luv2:
Let's hope he has more than the two months predicted by the vet but I'm sure his new owners will know when the time comes to let him go.

Thanks everyone - at least he was lucky to have been picked up off the street, and found a wonderful home, for however long it may be - he has been with them for 3 months today, I have checked my records. The rescue lady is also saddened by this, as he was with her first, and he was a wonderful cat, no bother at all, just glad of home comforts.
-
How sad about Hobo and i feel for his mum and dad.
Sending Hobo   and to you and his mum and dad.

Jasmine seem full of life and suddenly went downhill very quickly, she had a mass on her heart and I would never have believed it, she was so young and always so lively
Same happened woith Oscar , it was a matter of weeks. :(
-
How very sad :(
-
Oh how sad.....This week has been awful for you Des
Im sure he will get all the love and attention he needs....x
-
So very sad but at least Hobo is loved very much
-
How very sad for evreyone involved and poor little Hobo :'(
Having had him such a short time his new owners sound like lovely people for sticking by him and making sure he gets the care he needs, I can imagine some :censored: would want to return him and take a healthy cat!
Fingers crossed he lasts longer than the vet predicts and a big  to all
-
Poor Hobo  Its wonderful Hobo found such wonderful caring owners.
-
Best wishes for Hobo, hoping the steroids can buy him some time :wish:
My friends cat has been on steroids for lung cancer for 18months and is still going strong, amazing :Luv:
-
I dropped them an e-mail yesterday, to see how they were getting on, he is doing really well on steroids, and the vet has now changed his mind on how long he has, and says there is no reason why he can't be with them for months to come, so I am really pleased, and have offered them Mabel's leftover steroids - this week is certainly better than last week, apart from the fact my car has just given up on me - I am getting a new one on Sat, but it only had to do one more day!!
-
Thats good news about Hobo Desley - bummer about your car tho - it must have been upset about being replaced! :evillaugh: ;)
-
I know, I am soo pleased he will have longer than thought. I couldnt believe the car's timing, luckily I was popping into the vet to drop something in, so the car is there now - just grateful I wasn't picking a cat up!!
-
Just logged on to find this in my e-mail. At least he got a wonderful home and so much love, and longer than the vet predicted
Hi Desley
Sadly we had no option but to put Hobo to sleep yesterday evening.
Although his primary cancer appeared to be in remission and he was
doing very well up to a few days ago, the vet discovered he had
several secondary cancers which could not be safely treated alongside
his primary cancer and which would mean removing most of his lower
jaw.
After being told by the vet that he was likely in considerable pain we
decided the kindest thing to do would be to put him to sleep.
Afterwards we drove straight to Liverpool where we buried him with his
favourite toys and cushion in a garden belonging to Tanya's family,
which is where all family pets have been laid to rest for the past
sixty years so he is in good company.
I'm attaching a photo taken one week ago which shows how happy and
loved he was right up to the end. We may have only had eight months
with him, but we tried our best to make sure every day was special for
him by taking him on lots of walks and giving him lots of cuddles. He
was a lovely, affectionate cat and we miss him sorely.
Thank you for allowing us to adopt him and take care of him, and we're
so sorry to have to pass on this sad news.
Best wishes

I remember Hobo too. It's been a rough year this year.
RIP Hobo. :RIP:
-
Certainly has, that is two ex-fosters in just over a week. This is part of my response to them
As sad as the news is, at least we took him off the streets, and found him a home where he was so loved and spoiled, and for that he was truly lucky, it was just a shame it was only for 8 months - I am sure you succeeded in making every day special for him.
-
I'm so sorry, Desley  I'm glad he got a home though and was loved up until the end. RIP Hobo.

Thanks, he certainly did have a wonderful home, and his owners will be looking to adopt another cat once they have had time to grieve.
