I've been thinking about buying a travelling harness for RW as he's a really lousy traveller in a carrier. He works himself up into such a state that he starts panting! I've let him out of the case in the car (while it wasn't moving :innocent:) and the change was dramatic.
Bearing in mind that RW is a BIG boy (5.5Kg and built like a brick out house) do you think I should put a cat harness on my next zooplus order?
P.S. i'll make sure there's adequate protection on the car seats for those little accidents :naughty:

Fred-cat is exactly the same , hyperventilates after a few minutes in the car. We now let him lie on a lap with a harness (and sometimes without!) and he is absolutely fine. We just put him in the box for the journey from the car to the vets , for some reason once he is out of the car he doesnt mind the box so much.

My friend's cat, Tigs, absolutely hates being in his carrier, and eventually we realised that it's because he can't see where we're going. Now he always travels with a harness, so that I can keep him away from the driver (my friend). Mostly he likes to sprawl out along the parcel shelf once he's satisfied himself that we're going in the right direction! Causes some bemused reactions from following cars, though!

I dont know what a travelling harness is but know Kocka use to be fine sitting on my knee in half of her carrier.

RW's too much of a fidget bum to be let loose in the car without restraint! I think he would be happier if he could watch the world go by.....

A friend has one of these for her toy Yorkie... http://www.woofnwhiskers.co.uk/outward-hound-dog-car-booster-seat-small-p-887.html, he wears a harness rather than a collar and she attaches it to the car seat so he can lie down if he likes but not jump out. Dunno if it would be suitable for a cat but you sure would attract some funny looks from other drivers :briggin:

What kind of carrier do you put him in? A bigger one of different type may suit him better.
Id never travel with a loose cat, isnt it in the highway code that animals must be secured? :-:
