Hello all. I am posting this to see if anyone can help this lady with placement for these four lovely cats that have been signed over to SS as owner is not able to care for them and she is in hospital due to mental illness. I have been in contact with Lesley from SS for some weeks, they were outside our area originally but she took my advice and got them vac and into a cattery where they have been for at least a month or so.. Then that was the last i heard of it all until least week. Now the cattery has no more space for them and thus next week they will be homeless!!.
We are full to overflowing, and I have told her that in reality we cannot help much but i can see if we can spread the word. They are in Herne Bay, Kent way.. On my advice she has got them all at the vets and has also paid for their teeth to be done as the vet said they needed to do this and it was unlikely that anyone would take on 4 older cats with teeth problems. I will post photos later.. This is rather urgent
If she had got them on a list a few months back things may of been different. Transport as always will be an issue, may be the SS will contribute to fuel costs. I can try.. Local rescues in our area are having a hard time and this wk has been dire as i have had (and others on the phone) to say no room at the inn for various cats that are in need..
Any ideas and thoughts much appreciated. The tel number of the SS people i have deleted as with Purrs rules. Pls cross post if you can. I supose i am (and SS, who dont really understand the problem we are having) are expecting miracles but you never know...!
Please find attached pictures of the 4 cats that need rehoming at Rainbows End Cattery in Herne Bay. We may have found homes for 2 of /them but prospective adopters haven't yet visited. The vets say that the cats are aged 12+, with 1 of the tabbys being the oldest.
They have been vacinated, de-flea'd, wormed and are having their teeth done tomorrow.
All are friendly. Used to going outdoors. Names are unfortunately unknown due to client's memory loss. All, I presume, are spayed/neutered as no accidents since I've known the client for the past 2 years.
Their last day of paid placement at the cattery is Thursday 3 July. So they need to be moved either Thursday, or Friday 4 July if the cattery will allow this (not being paid this day).
Please let me know if you can place them at the sanctuary next week.

Trying to help SS with these four cats as proved as though i might bang my head against a wall.. I found a home for one or two.. but because they were not on their doorstep they refused to go and met the people and show them around the cattery... !! Saying that their boss would kill them if they took time out for that... !! I then lost my patience and quoted this Assistance act that i always forget about as the lady instisted that they have done all they can for these cats and at the end of the day it "an't my problem after Thur".. What the heck that means is i guess up to everyone to read...
I got sooooooooo annoyed with this lady.. i am literally bending over backwards to help these four even though they are not in our care, and were orignally not even in our area,. and i havent even seen them.. but nope!! I just hope they do find a rescue or a placement, homes for eldely puss cats are not as we all know easy to find and i would of though she would be overjoyed.. but nope.... !!
We started of on good talking terms but now.. she is taking this all to far..! I wouldlove to send her the Act link and spell out to her their duty of care.. so that at least her ignorant ways are put in check.. So if anyone can send me the link again with the bit about welfare of animals relating to a person in care then pls do..
Thanks

This is heartbreaking and I can't get these four out of my mind...
Can't the potential new owners make arrangements with the cattery staff to view the cats themselves (assuming they've been vetted)?

Coca Cola cats?
Have these guys been sorted yet - it's so sad and I would imagine horribly frustrating for the rescues involved.

Black cats that have deep red in them you can only see in the sunlight.

Any news on these four? :scared:
-
Anything happening with these four Sharon, or will they be pts on Thurs? :(
-
Not heard anything. SS never got back to me (after the effort to help them last week, very rude).. I have emailed but still no response..
I do fear for these puss cats and i bet your life she will be ringing me again on Thur.... But our situation hasnt changed at all. Indeed now we even have even more kittens dumped on us...!!
-
I was talking to the lady at Romney House rescue and she said they can't just dump the cats as they have a duty under the 1948 act.
-
I had rather a brash email from SS saying that these cats were it seems on Rhodes Minnis santuary list to take them this week.. So looks as though they found somehwhere!
In the future will try to avoid SS calls like the plague!
-
I banned SS referrals at my B&B after one of them was rude about their so-called "client" trashing a carpet.
-
When I used to do the phone for our branch I could only pick up the messages on an evening when I got home from work. I well remember picking up one from our local SS which was a very snooty woman who responded to our answer phone message which said we would return calls as soon as possible with "Well that's absolutely no good to me I need someone to ring me back immediately to sort out two cats". I'm afraid I didn't ring her back as her attitude was that we had to take the cats in and we were full at the time (as usual) so I knew we couldn't help and she didn't call me back. I find they always make out that it's a rescue's responsibility and not theirs. Let's hope these babes do have a rescue place.

:evillaugh: They seem to be a certain type - Sharon's email was along the lines of "These cats need to go into your sanctuary by next week"
I don't think I have ever heard of a good word about one of them.
