some cats have a very short attention span when it comes to their names. Mine all come when called (if they feel like it) but do not necessarily respond to their name when they are in the same room as me and I call them (well, apart from the dark look that says, you want me, come over here and get me  ) but calling the name in unison with the rattle of the food cannister usually works. Just never too sure which stimulus they are responding too ..

Mine all know their names and will usually look at me when I say them but that's about all they do

smigden frequently does, just not always. When he does he seems to leap tall buildings at a single bound (well, fences at least) and just throws himself at me as if all the hounds of hell are after him, which clearly they are not as instantly he is indoors he drops to the floor and collapses into that long, langourous, boneless length that only the oriental breeds seem to achieve ...

My Maxy boy knows his name alright, but does seem to have selective hearing, mostly when he's being told off for being naughty  :shify:  :evillaugh:

Misa knows his name ands also Sasa but she ignores it unless in the same room  and then she will look and then ignore me

The birmans ummm wellllll theres a question are they deaf, partialy deaf or just being monsters. I was told when they came to me that they never reponded to any name and Franta as far as I can tell is quite deaf but then he seems to be able to hear the cat flap go from another room!

He has suddenly started to respond to his original name which is Napoleon .........sigh. As long as its in a high pitched voice and sorta
Na-pOleon, Ducha was responding a few months ago to Ducha Wells......he was called Wellington but he just ignores everything now

Mine respond to their names but I'm not sure they know who is who, I taught them using a bag of milky flake-ums :drool; I'd hide in various parts of the house, call them and then reward them with their treats.  They also respond to 'come on then boys' as this means teatime or the back door being opened!

Our Smoke doesn't come to her name, but she'll come when you rattle the whiskas temptations ;)

Gizmo comes to his name in various forms as well as Little Man. Lirael & Penguin come as soon as you call, no clue why though.

Jaffa always responds to his name but I think that's mainly because he daren't risk missing out on something good  ;D  Mosi knows his name but he suffers from the same selective hearing problem that seems to afflict many of the Purrs puds.  He will respond if he feels like it.  He is also like Jerry in that he probably thinks his name is Mosi-NO.

Charlie knows his name but largely ignores it unless you say "where's Charlie"

My little Pinball Wizard is the only one of mine who doesn't respond to his name/being told to come here. Whether he doesn't know it just yet or just chooses to ignore it is not yet clear! He does however respond very quickly to the shaking of the conditioning tablet tub! If he carries on being such a loony livewire his name is permanently going to become either Pinball No! or Pinball Stop!  :evillaugh: :evillaugh:

My 2 are very talkative, especially Polly. If you call her, she'll answer with a little chirrupy squeak  :Luv:

I do wonder whether they respond to the tone of the voice though, as I do tend to call her name out quite high pitched and squeaky, mimicking how she'll reply ....... I know I know I need to get out more !!

Max took ages to learn his name. I wouldn't give up just yet!  Yup most kittens think their name is NO!!!!  :evillaugh:  Plus they def learn more than one name in time too - their 'real' name and whatever oochycoochy nicknames you come up with (said in silly voice of course)!
