My cat (1 year old male) wees a LOT. He hardly ever drinks from his bowl, I reckon he gets his liquid intake mostly from his wet food, which he eats twice a day. However, when I am present when he is doing his business, it is quite surprising. It sounds like a free running water from a faucet, and it goes on for quite a long time, like when we finally get to relieve ourselves after having to hold it in for hours. I can't help but wonder where all that water is coming from. I use a super absorbent litter fill (tidycats) which is highly efficient, but sometimes it remains damp instead of making a nice dry clump because there is too much wee in one spot. I know obviously that not weeing enough is clearly a problem, but I have never heard of a problem the other way around. It does seem that he tends to relieve himself all at once instead of going often, and his behaviour and appearance is perfectly healthy. Is there any possibility of a problem? Has anyone experienced something like this with your kitties? I am quite puzzled!

So he doesn't do big wees regularly throughout the day? That's a sign of diabetes.

i would have a chat with your vet about this, to be on the safe side. He will be due for boosters soon wont he?
-
speak to the vet if your concerned but it could be he's just a once or twice a day kinda guy.
A couple of mine are like that and you usually here them in the middle of the night... wondering when the tap will stop running! ;)

Thanks for the advices! Yes we shall stop by at the vet and see what they think... he looks too well to have any problems but I would hate to take any risks, especially of diabetes!

I have 2 opposites in mine, Jess has never been a big wee'er, he'd go once or twice a day at the most and they would be big long massive wee's, since all his problems he is now going 3/4 times a day and they are reasonable sized. Before Jess had his problems we thought he was totally normal, now we have Milo we realise its not, Milo goes 3/4 times day and they are reasonable "normal" wees.
I'd get it checked out though to be on the safe side.

Max does quite big wees too, we only noticed when we switched the the crumb as it clumps so well.
Best to check with the vet, but if he's not drinking more as well, I can't think what it could be? Might be entirely normal for him, and hopefully nothing to get concerned about :)
My motto now with Max is that if I'm even slightly wondering about something, the vets is the next stop .....
