Title: Jim - Six years on
Post by: pappilon on June 09, 2008, 21:49:27 PM
Sweet Jim, thats what came to my head when i saw you in your bed in woodgreen animal shelter. The nightbefore i come to meet you i saw your picture on their site, it wasnt very clear but you were the only cat there which could live with other cats and i did want to give a home to an older cat after loosing my DD, so i called in the morning and the very nice guy in shelter said i could come to see you, it was my birthday aswell and i was so excited, in woodgreen they dont have cat cabins its all big sheds, when we came to your shed you were sleeping and the nice guy tried to wake you but you didnt move he picked up your bed still no movements and i thought OMG i hope he is ok, and then i was told that you were deaf and had tyroid problems , thats when i looked at you and thought sweet Jim :Luv: They said you were 17 and had been in shelter for 4 years and every one loved you there because you were gentle and kind , he was right you were the most gentle cat i have ever had and the best birthday present to me. My beautifull Jim when we got home and i picked you up i realize you were bag of bone and had no teeth but loved your food and made your self at home straight away. Sadly we had 4 short months to gether but iam so glad you got your own home and looking at your little face made me smile every day, i just want to tell you in my eyes you were beautifull and i miss you so much and i hope you are happy where you are my darling

What a lovely tribute to him Pav, he was very lucky to have spent the last 4 months of his life in a wonderful home environment rather than at the rescue. RIP little one.

Happy first Bridge Day Jim.  You were so lucky that Pav took you home with her, you couldn't have had a better home to spend your last few months.

Lovely story pav - it made me  :'(

He looked like a lovely sweet old boy. It's great that he had a few special months with you in a proper home  He so reminds me of Teddie, another old boy who Julie rescued after his owners decided to leave him outside with rotten teeth. After a dental, Caroline took him in and he got on well with Caroline's 2 gentle dogs and her other cats and also had a happy few months of being warm, well fed and loved.

RIP Jim.

Thank you Alison
I guess so Sheila, he was found as a stray and lived in rescue for 4 years but the amazing thing was when i posted here about him Janey recognized him  :Luv: She and her Oh were going to adopt him when visited wood green but were told he may not cope with traveling long distance so they adopted gorgeous Byron  :Luv2: If i remember right she was 20. :)
I miss having an older cat, oldies are the best.

Ah Jim  :Luv2: yep they were rehoming lots of oldies so we went down to London with Byron in mind but saw Jim and he looked so sorry for himself, we asked them which of the cats they wanted us to take and we'd be happy with that.  They said Byron would probably withstand the journey better even though she was 22! but I couldn't stop thinking about Jim then when I saw Pav post on here I was so pleased she'd adopted him.  I still have the photo of Jim you sent me Pav, gorgeous old boy   you're right the oldies are the best !
