Post by: ronandcats on June 08, 2008, 23:57:03 PM
we have had two Persians cats brought in to us this week we think they were both dumped they were living in the thick of a ivy bush growing up the side of a house,  the lady who brought one in said there were two but could not reach the other one as it was to high up the building, but she came  back two days later with the second one, she had to get a man with a ladder to reach the poor little babe, they are so badly matted that we have got to have all there coat shaved off they are booked into the vets for Tuesday you can see there pictures on my web site but will post them on purrs later, poor little babes they are really frightend :scared: will keep you updated on there progress. on the homing side only homed one little cat this week but doing a home check for two oldies tomorrow brother and sister12 yrs old there owner passed away but its looking good for them. :cheer:  everyone is ringing up for Kittens. >:( But have really had a good week with reuniting 4 lost cats back to there loving homes thanks to there owners having them microchipped and our lost and found web site we just hope the re homing is better next week as we still have 25 cats looking for ever loving homes

Hi,

Just a quick update on the persians.  They visited the vets yesterday and are now free of those messy old coats.  They're sure to feel much more comfortable and if a few months they'll look like totally different cats.  Here are some pics -

thanks for the update Ron, and they look much much more comfortable.

Although they may look a bit peculiar for a wee whiley I'm sure they will feel much better and it will start to show in the characters over the next wee whiley.

sending big purry head butts and  your way.

Hi there,

Just a quick update on the little persians.  Sadly the little girl has been taken into hospital today as she has been really poorly for the last few days.  She wasn't eating at all and seemed to be really dehydrated.  We brought them indoors last night and when she was still poorly this morning we decided to get her to the vets asap.  Not sure how this is going to turn out but at least she has a fighting chance now.  We'll let you know how she gets on and if there's anyone out there who may want to offer a home to these two unfortunates please get in touch.  It's obvious that no-one is looking for them and the sooner we can get them into a home the better they'll be.

The little boy is doing fine by the way, he had an eye infection that we're treating but it's much better already.  He's very friendly and purry and is missing his sister already.  Fingers crossed she'll only be away for a day or two and we can get them both back to 100% healthy.

Hope she's better soon Ron

I hadnt realised one was a boy! - I thought they both looked like bluecream torties from the photos, so just assumed they were both girls as its quite unusual to get tortie boys.

oh Ron, I'm so sorry to hear of the little girl not being well. Sending lots of healing vibes and    for a quick recovery so that she can join her brother again soon.

I really hope things take a turn for the better for this duo soon as they have been through enough already the poor wee mites,

Sad news.

The little persian hasn't made it.  She made no improvement in hospital last night and the vets felt this morning that trying to keep her going for any longer would only prolong her suffering.  It seems she had a chest infection on top of the dehydration and that's why she wasn't eating or drinking.  Too little too late, if only they'd been found a bit sooner.

The other cat is doing ok though.  We thought is was a boy given the size difference but a second look has convinced us she's a girl.  She's missing her sister a lot and is also not eating well yet but she's very much stronger and isn't ill at all.  We're urgently trying to find her a home now and if anyone in the Brighton area knows someone who could give this poor little cat the love she deserves please call us.  We'll be keeping her indoors till her new owners arrive and we're hoping to find someone with a cat or cats as it would be best for her to have company.

Thanks guys,

So sorry to hear about the little girl Ron, sometimes sadly we get to them too late but I'm surprised they didn't give her a chance with antibiotics and a drip, maybe they thought she was too far gone  :'(  :'(  It may be worth getting the other little girl on some Rescue Remedy and I would also try her on some a/d or Recovery food, I've only ever had one cat refuse to eat this so may be worth a try   I hope her sister copes with all the upheaval in her life and finds the loving home she deserves, good luck with her

Dawn the little cat had been put on a drip, and Antibiotics i hope you don't think i  would not given her the best chance in the world of survival, and we  would not have cared about the cost. the vet said  what with her also having a chest infection the poor little mites organ's were shutting down and it only prolong her suffering. so we done our best for poor little girl (RIP little Fluffy)

Not at all Ron, I know you will always do your best for the cats in your care   I didn't realise they'd already tried her on a drip as it wasn't mentioned in your post.

Hope the other little one does well

That's so sad. RIP little Fluffy, hope your sister lives a long and happy life.

I'd be nagging oh by now but my asthma's gradually starting to get worse and I can't risk losing the two cats I have already.

Good luck finding a loving home

Ivy is now indoors with my own 7 cats they all stair at her as she looks really funny with her coat being shaved off, but she is settling down more but she has stolen Tammy,s heated bed and Tammy is not to pleased at all, if Tammy swears at her she runs back to her cage to her own heated bed but we leave the cage door open when we are in and she is getting use to mixing with the mob, i really want to find her a permanent home as i don't want to upset her if she makes herself at home with us. she really is a little sweaty and loves to talk to you with her funny meow.
