I`d like you to meet Katy Teabag, just caught her this afternoon, she had evidently been living under a tree at the side of a road since before Christmas. At first glance she doesnt look too bad, but this poor girl has a bald back, bald ankles front and back and slight bald patches on her ears as well as 2 small neck wounds. Vet is concerned because she looks slightly jaundiced, her tummy is very gassy possible due to the fact she has been fed by workmen- cows milk for dinner and a dish of tea to drink, Bless those workmen at least they cared, they had been trying to catch her for 3 weeks when someone gave them my number.
Shes got a course of antibiotics , a nice warm bed and a dish of food and water but I`ve told her no more tea I`m a coffee drinker :)

Oh the dear little girl. I hope she isn't too ill Teresa...let's hope the vet can sort her out. I love the name Katy...used to have a dog called Kate when I was a youngster. Did the workmen give her that name or is it one of yours?
Have to say she'd be better off at my place if she's a teabag 'cos I get through loads of the stuff!
That bed looks very cosy indeed...it's gonna be awful tonight and tomorrow so thank goodness you've brought her to safety.
Look forward to more posts on her.
Lots of love to you both
Roz

Aw bless her the poor little girl, she looks like my Ebony, nice to know the workmen cared enough to do something about her and didnt just leave her to fend for herself, so glad shes with you now Teresa

The poor little mite looks like a frightened, skinny little Blip! Katy Teabag has come to the right place at last, and in the nick of time by the sound of it. I hope you and the Paws Inn team can nurse her back to health.
It's good to know that the workmen cared enough to help her. Please give her a kiss from me.
-
Really pleased that she is in a warm and caring place now.
Well done those workmen and Teresa.
I wish you could help me catch my cat.
-
Roz each cat I take to the vets has its own separate file on the account for optimum care and I had to come up with a name quickly, the vet nurse on duty was called Katy.
Christine she is very timid she cowers when you go near but once you make contact and stroke her she purrs for England.
Yvonne I wish I lived near enough to help
-
Oh Teresa she is gorgeous :Luv: :Luv:
I am so pleased that she is safe with you now and thank goodness the workmen looked out for her ;D
Please give her a gentle cuddle and headrub from me xx
-
Christine she is very timid she cowers when you go near but once you make contact and stroke her she purrs for England.
:'( I think we can guess something of her story then, poor little thing. It doesn't bear thinking about. >:(
Make that two kisses from me.

I'm sure with a little bit of the Paws Inn magic and lots of TLC from Teresa et al ths little darling will soon learn to trust again. Well done to the workmen (even if they did give her cows milk ... it has to be better than nothing I suppose).
Foxy Zephyr and Rossi all send lots of furry headbutts and a big :blow kiss: from me.
-
Bless her, I bet she thinks she's in kitty heaven ;D If only there were more like you around Teresa, good on the workmen too.
-
Katy is a lovely girl and hope that the vet can sorta her out. Thank goodness for the workman and you ;D
-
Aww, good on the workmen and you for helping this little love out - I know how bad the weather is here this morning, so not sure if it is the same where you are T. Fingers crossed that she blossoms really quickly.
-
Poor Katy was cowering in her litter tray this morning, but has eaten dried Royal Canin kitten overnight and had a satchet of High Life with her pill this morning. She is the kind of cat that you want to pick up and cuddle and never let go and better still she enjoys being cuddled once she knows its safe.
Will take some better pictures on Sunday when Claire is here to help me.
Yes Desley the weather is pretty rough here, in fact at 4am I was feeling really smug because Katy wasnt out in it.
-
give that baby a big hug and kiss from me. bless those workmen.
-
Poor little Mite must have been terrified.
More excellent work in taking her in Teresa. Its nice to know that there is another little stray thats not cold, hungry and scared anymore .
-
Aww, bless that teabag puss, great job there Theresa.
-
I saw on the meteorological  thread that Katy Teabag is looking perkier already? That's just brilliant and thank goodness she is safe with you instead of wandering alone in this dreadful weather.
-
How is Katy Teabag getting on, Teresa?
-
Just catching up on threads - was in hosp yesterday for a minor op.
Well done to the workmen but a bigger well done to you Teresa.
How is Katy today ??
-
Hope the op went well, Michelle.
I reckon Teresa must be very busy today, fixing all that damage at Paws Inn :(
-
Katy is much more confident now, she is eating really well, greets me with headbutts and bum up in the air waggly tail hellos, hopefully the jaundice will turn out to be nothing more than an infection. She is one really lovely girl.
Hope you are feeling better Michelle
-

Excellent! :)
hopefully the jaundice will turn out to be nothing more than an infection.
When will you know about the jaundice, Teresa?
-
Christine
Andy (vet) has put her on antibiotics and wants to see her again next week I am assuming that the whites of her eyes will be less yellow then if its just infection though not sure.We will do blood tests anyway, but as long as she is happy bright and cheerful thats the main thing. and she is so very happy now.
-
as long as she is happy bright and cheerful thats the main thing. and she is so very happy now.
;D
-
Katy seems to be doing remarkably well without the tea :) We got a normal poo from her this morning so hopefully all will be well.
She continues to show improvement each day and is eating well and thoroughly enjoying the safety of her pen.
Assuming all goes well and an owner doesnt come forward I have a home lined up already.

:yayyy: Fingers very tightly crossed for Katy!
-
Aww, fingers crossed for her.
-
Katy is a little down today, not really wanting to eat much and her third eyelids are showing, attached a picture of her in new soft bed which she absolutely loves.

Aww!!
-
Katy is a little down today, not really wanting to eat much and her third eyelids are showing,
Hopefully its just the antibiotics kicking in and making her feel a bit a bit off. Finger crossed. She's gorgeous.
-
Do hope she is OK.................now why wont mine use cat beds, prob cos they are spoilt and they havent had to live as a stray for a long time now, in Sasas case.
-
I do hope it is just the change of circumstances and diet etc that are affecting Katy...
xC
-
Shes eaten a little dry food and I have just given her some Natures Menu which she has picked at so hopefully I am worrying for nothing.
Perhaps shes having tea withdrawal and is craving for a cuppa :)
-
Fingers crossed you are worrying for nothing T.
-
How is Katy today, Teresa?
-
Christine madam Katy is really bright today, she has had a satchet of Felix as good as it looks, Royal Canin dry and is now enjoying Natures Menu for tea. She is due back at vets tomorrow so will update then.
-
I am so glad that she is doing so well, fingers crossed for good news at the vets.
-
Bless little Tea Bag ..( I prefer that to Katy to be honest LOL) ...She is just gorgeous, I do hope that it is nothing and she is at full health and in her new forever home soon enough ..
Well done to the workmen for actually trying to help ...and of course once again to you for taking her under your wing xx
-
What an utter sweetie she is! :) Please give her a big fuss from me.
-
Just back from vets, Andy is really pleased with her progress he is no longer worried about jaundice as her eyes are now whiter and so she is now off medication.
He is concerned about her skin problem and has taken scrapings for culture, so its wait and see.
-
Fingers crossed for little T bag !
-
I'm very pleased to hear that Katy's eyes are returning to normal and that jaundice has been ruled out. So it's fingers crossed here for her skin problem - did Andy give any indication what this might be?
-
Christine
He`s been talking about Mange
-
Whats mange? I have heard the name but thought it was something dogs or horses had, cant remember which animal but didnt know cats had it.
-
Christine
He`s been talking about Mange
Mange is one of the many things I know very little about. I gather it's curable but very unpleasant - poor little Katy. Also the mites are very easily transmitted between cats - have you got her isolated from the others as a precaution?
-
Christine worry not she is in her own little isolation pen and we are being very careful, I never worry about things I know can be made better, and one day Katy will have a beautiful coat :) I have promised her
-
one day Katy will have a beautiful coat :) I have promised her
Oh yes, she certainly will. :Luv:
Now I've got stinging eyes, Teresa, and I'm sitting at work!
-
Just out of interest Stronghold kills the mites and guess who always uses that
-
Hi Theresa
Just wondered if there is anything else besides Stronghold which can sort out mange. I have lent my trap to a lady who has been feeding a little feral cat for a couple of years at least and she noticed that the cat had suddenly gone bald and looks in need of help. So far the trap has not worked, the food disappears but no cat! I showed her several times how to set it, advised not to feed the cat for a couple of meal times at least to hopefully entice her to go in the trap, but to no avail (she was more interested in not smudging her freshly applied fake tan at the time!!) As I work and the cat doesn't keep any particular time pattern it is near impossible to catch her to get her to the vets, but wondered if there is anything at all that could be put in her food for example. Not even sure if it is mange, but sounds like it and there will be foxes where she lives (they don't know where she sleeps!). Any advice would be greatly appreciated. :thanks:
-
Fingers crossed Teresa, she is in the best possible hands.
She - it could be a flea allergy as well. I am sure Teresa will be able to give you some advice on how to catch this little one.
-
Hi She
If it is Mange this little one needs anti inflammatory to stop the itching and antibiotics as well.
Think this lady needs a wake up call and needs to be more helpful, as you know ferals ARE creatures of habit where a meal is concerned so I dont think this lady is being totally honest. Give her a notebook and ask her to keep records of days /times of sightings, has she got a neighbour who might be more helpful?
Might be worth asking vet for for some Program to put in this little ones food at least then if it turns out to be a flea problem it will help.
Are you Gina ? if so youre not a million miles away.
Back to Katy Teabag she is a happy little girl again today
-
Hi Teresa,
Haven't been around much for a couple of days but am so pleased to read that Katy is progressing so nicely...I'm sure that whatever is causing her fur loss will be sorted. She has found the best possible refuge....
(unlike that poor, poor greyhound that I heard about yesterday...deposited at a Police Station close to Edinburgh by a Police Officer who didn't work at that particular station, but who dropped it off there after collecting it as a stray. The paperwork was duly filled in and the dog was placed in a holding pen.....WHERE HE WAS FORGOTTEN ABOUT FOR TEN DAYS!!! They found the remains of the poor little love yesterday when the smell alerted other people's attention to the kennel. It is just too sad for words. There will be an investigation but it won't bring the dear little soul back. Absolutely heartbreaking and unforgiveable.)
She....as someone who has suffered with eczema for much of my life, I can only imagine how much this poor little cat is suffering. If she has mange or flea allergy she will be in agony and will soon die...especially in this cold weather. Is there any way that you can impress this info on the lady involved in trying to trap her? I hope and pray this poor little stray will step inside the trap soon and receive the medical attention that she so obviously needs.
Lots of love to you both and all the animals in your care,
Roz

Oh no, I've been rumbled! ;) It is me indeed.
A relative of the woman in question is one of our supporters. She went last night to set the trap again after receiving instructions via text from me (I was sat in the vets most of last night waiting my turn). So we are keeping everything crossed that they will be successful today in catching her. If they do catch her our vet will keep her in and treat her as required, that side is already sorted out. If not, I use Program for my more timid ferals anyway, so I can provide that for her, not be a problem, at least it would make a start.
There probably is a pattern to the cat's appearance but I don't think she is really aware of it, she just puts a dish of food out and it either goes or doesn't. She is not a cat lover in particular, but as she feeds her and feels sorry for her, she can't be all bad, although I can't imagine her taking notes for me!!
Thanks for the advice though. Much appreciated. Glad Katie is doing fine. She's a very lucky girl! ;D xx
-
Hope today has been as well as it started for Katy Teabag? You have remembered to give her my daily hug , haven't you?! :Luv:
-
Christine lots of hugs given from you and Blip.
She is really starting to enjoy life now that she is feeling better, she is so much more relaxed and is such a loving little girl.
She has promised to send you extra furry headbutts when her skin condition has cleared :)
-

There is a line in one of my favourite films, Little Big Man that goes something like 'My heart soars like a hawk'.

-
Aww, I am glad she is doing so well Teresa.
-
Without doubt this one is now the brightest and happiest of all.

That is the best news I'll have this month :wow:
Edited to add: And this has been a great month for us!
-
I don't suppose there's any chance of a photo of Katy, now that she's getting all that glossy fur back?
-
I will take some pictures later this evening as she is looking so beautiful today :) she fills my heart with pride
-
Here is the gorgeous ,beautiful Katy Teabag the last pic shows her bald back with new fur growth.

Hey She,
How did the trapping go? It's strange that the food was disappearing. Could the bar going to the trip plate be rusty and not slipping when the cat steps on the plate? I've had that happen. Utterly frustrating.
Esther

Hi Teresa,
What a dainty little girl Katy seems to be....nothing like her namesake ha ha. She is lovely. So pleased for you both that this case looks like having a happy ending.
Lots of love to you all
Roz
Have been labouring over the dreaded Tax Return for the past couple of days and seeing Katy is a real tonic! :Luv:
-
How is Katy coming along, Teresa? Hope her fur is growing back well.
-
Christine she is doing just fine, even her bald ankle bracelets are regrowing, may take a few more days for results of skin scrapings to come through and if negative we can think about spaying her.
-
 and ;D
-
Results of Katy Teabags skin scrapings have come back negative, so at last we can think about getting her neutered and make plans for rehoming after that.
-
Excellent and a relief. Attagirl Katy ;D
-
Hi Teresa how is the gorgeous Katy today :Luv:
-
Poor Katy Teabag has suffered a setback, just when she started to look beautiful with her newly grown fur I noticed a couple of suspicious bald spots. We have been back to the vet who says this is not the same as the original Mange problem but he thinks this is an allergic reaction. So if no better in a couple of weeks we will have to have allergy tests done. :(
-
Bother :( I do hope Katy's problem can be resolved quickly, poor little mite. Cuddles to her.
-
Oh dear oh dear :(
-
Oh bless her :(
Sending her lots of love, cuddles and healing vibes xxxx
-
Katy teabag used to love the Natures Menu and the Felix as good as it looks but now she is used to a better standard of service she has become increasingly fussy turning her little nose up at the wet and eating the dry. Yesterday a very special person who had no idea of this kindly donated some Gourmet Pearls which was duly served up today, in less than a minute the gourmet was eaten and Katy was doing her best impression of dish washing.
To that very kind and special person a huge :thanks: and purrs from the Teabag.
-
love the idea of dish washer, bless her
-
My goodness the little madam, she has you wrapped round her paw
-
Aww bless her. I do hope you can get to the bottom of things soon for her.
-
Well after an exhausting day I realised I had used all the gourmet so took a satchet of Felix as good as it looks out to the Teabag and she duly turned her nose up. I asked her politely if she would prefer to go back to a dish of milk and cup of tea or if she would prefer to go without, the madam ate the Felix
She is one clever puss
-
farrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr to clever I think
-
Felix A.G.A.I.L. this morning, bowl licked clean after me telling the Teabag that I had changed my name to Old Mother Hubbard, got to go to P.at H. for Minimopsicals puppy training pads so will buy some Gourmet Pearls as a special treat for the lovely intelligent girl.
:)
-
   Old mother Hubbard :evillaugh: :evillaugh:
-
Awww bless that gorgeous Katy :Luv:
Sending her lots of love and cuddles for being such a clever wee girl ;)
-
Its good news for the Teabag today her skin has settled down again and last night a lovely lady came to meet her and fell in love with her so all being well our little Katy Teabag will be off to her own forever home at the weekend. :)
-
What wonderful news ;D
I hope you've told the lady about Katy's Gourmet Pearl habit :evillaugh:
-
Christine the lady knows all and somehow I think she will pamper to Teabags every whim.
-
Well thats great news.................you are going to miss the little madam
-
A great ending for one little girl - I hope she gets spoiled rotten :catluv:
-
wonderful news for Teabag :cheer:
-
Congratulations to little miss Teabag and a big well done to Teresa
-
Think I ought to be really honest about this rehoming, the lady who is taking Teabag actually came to look at Christy but the Teabag got wind of what was going on and purred her little head off and choose the lady ,poor Christy didnt stand a chance, now the lady would have happily taken Christy as well but the Teabag being a proper fussy madam will not tolerate other cats in any shape or form.
Christy says he doesnt mind putting up with me for a while longer, while the Teabag is counting the hours to packing her bags
-
oh well lol ;D
-
I'm sure Christy's forever home will be along soon
-
The Teabag is now busy settling into her new home, I will definately miss her but am so pleased for her.
Meant to say her new mum is keeping the name Katy Teabag :)
-
So pleased she is keeping the name.......its unique just like Teabag ;D
-
That's so sweet of her!
-
brilliant that Katy Teabag is settling in so well in her new home
-
Just been reading this thread and all choked now!
You really are "Kitty Mother Teresa" ! ;D
-
Received this email from Katy Teabags new mum and thought it would be nice to share
Hi Teresa, just thought I'd let you know how Katy Teabag is settling in. She was very happy to investigate her new home, spent ages rubbing her face against the furniture and my legs (a good sign I believe) and we spent the afternoon cuddling together on the sofa, which was just lovely and she couldn't stop purring. Only thing is, when hubby came home, she went all scared and nervous and has taken sanctuary behind the sofa, doesn't she like men, have you come across this? Paul is lovely with animals so we will give her all the time she needs, she's in good hands.
Take care
Marina
-
Awww what a lovely email Teresa :)
Mupps was the same with Pete at first but now Mupps follows him everywhere. He is still scared of men and hides upstairs.
So glad Katy has kept her name and she is settling in so well ;D
-
that was really nice of the lady to keep you informed
-
what a lovely letter ;D
-
Nice letter and hope she will learn that not all men are bad
-
Aww, fingers crossed she learns that men aren't all bad.
-
I always say that when you are feeling a little" down" in rescue something comes along out of the blue to remind you why you do rescue.
This morning I received a letter in the post with a photocopied picture of Katy Teabag exposing her tummy to the world, she says she is happy, fat and adored by her mum and dad, she also sent a cheque for £50 to the Paws Inn moggies.
I know lots of you regulars will remember her plight and will be as delighted as I am to know how happy she is, just one reason why I do rescue.
-
Who can forget Katy Teabag and the wonderful workmen who looked out for her and brought her to the Inn?
:wow:
-
Aww, it is lovely when you get a wonderful update, certainly does help you remember things. I am glad things are seeming better for you this week.
-
Desley if it carries on at this rate I can put my feet up and retire  2 more adults reserved also.
-
Glad to hear that you are getting enquiries.
