As I was saying goodbye to Maisy, Bill and Ben yesterday, I got a call to say that a lady has been feeding a pregnant stray. She had already contacted the RSPCA (who told her to stop feeding the cat and it would go away) and CP who told her to phone us.
Last tuesday the stray came for its usual feed minus the bump.
The woman ignored thr RSPCA's advice and has been feeding the cat 4 times a day then following it to see if she could find out where the kittens were. The cat kept eluding her but she had narrowed it down to 6 houses.
I went round last night and spoke to all the people and searched all the gardens bar one - where the woman said she would look herself.
This morning following the cat after its early morning feed, she of course went to the 'bar one' lady and squeezed into a hole in the shed.
So with mum cat having her 2nd feed of the day in the house, I rushed round. The lady was adamant that she had looked in the shed (only about 4ft x 4ft) but having taken most of the stuff out - hey presto! there they were. Kittens in the carrier and then mum was collected from the lady feeding her.
Relief all round (I didn't sleep much last night , was up at 4am and ready to rush round Maplins to buy a loc8tor!), and so without further ado.....

I'm thinking of calling the mum cat Pippa, the two torties Blip and Vienna and the two black and whites Kocka and Star - what do you think? :rofl:

I couldnt tell if you were seriious about the names Angie but if you are Kocka will be very honoured to have her name used twice and will be watching from the Bridge over her kittens ;D

I just had to go upstairs to make sure you hadn't been down here catnapping your cats and kittens back :rofl:. I think the names are superb :Luv2: I will have to take individual piccies now so that we can compare litters.

Well I've just been truely defeated by mummy cat.
She's been moving kittens around all day.
I was a bit concerned at first as it was the same girl the first three times and I noticed that my little darlings come with their own pet ticks (am going to remove them shortly!) :sick:
Anyway, worrying that mummy knew more about this kit than I did, I have been looking at Lymes disease etc. and making a mental note where all the bottle feed stuff is. I even got as far as phoning the vets to take them in for a check up but there are no appointments at the groups vet or my own today. (getting a bit like the doctors!).
But, of course, since then mummy has moved on to other targets and has her eye on the one corner of the room thats barracaded and hard to get to - or was....... :tired:. Having got fed up of having to crawl around the pen and under the table to retrieve her crying babes (with her looking all innocent and trying to ignore the screams) I have just told her that she is the better woman and has won this round.
Kitten room now in total upheaval and mum has just decided to give kits a feed in the middle of the room. :Crazy:
I've just turned the heating down as it was a tad warm in the room (especially after moving everything around :rofl:) and it might just be she's going to that corner 'cos its cooler.

Mums definitely think they know best. When I had the pregnant mum from Liverpool I built her a gorgeous nesting box, all snuggly and private. She gave birth in the middle of the floor and that is where they stayed for most of their first 8 weeks. Completely REFUSED to use my nesting box or anything else I gave her. Suffice to say, carpet had to be replaced once they had all been re-homed. :shocked:

Just to say, 'Mr J' & I met the dejavus yesterday :) (and finally dropped your carriers off to Angie, Lesley). The little wrigglers are soooooooo tiny... never seen kittens so young before!
Mum is a wonderful puss, very sweet and friendly; we were very taken by her... and a particluar naughty inmate - 6 month old Titch :Luv2: (oh.... and it was nice to finally meet you too Angie :evillaugh:)

Well moved the dejavus into my study - as I spend more time in here it will help with socialisation. I had to take 2 cats in from one of our fosterers so now have Petal (formerly Cowpat) and Jess (one of the FTGHs) in my cat room. That should be a laugh as they have not met before so hopefully afte a bit of hissing through pens they will settle.
Both have had kittens so when they flatten a bit it'll be down the vets for a snip. Petals kittens are now 7 weeks old and for various reasons staying at the fosterers until homes are found and Jess's kitten (who is supposed to be 11 weeks old) is going to her new home at the weekend.
Mum cat here keeps talking to the babies, I keep replying to her until I realise she's not talking to me! :rofl:
And of course the comfortable blankets I placed under my desk - including the smelly one they were using were used for about 30 mins. Mum found her way under a pile of bric a brac in the corner and started moving them. This time I did not resist - I just moved all the loose stuff away so stop any squashing going on. :Crazy:
