Hi all,
Well Et cotinues to amaze us with her resiliance and desrie to live out what must be her tenth life. She is responding well to her meds and gaining around 100g a week so far. I just wondering what breed she is. I have attached a pic. Brace yourselves this is one just after she was taken in by RSPCA so she is very underweight and has been shaved due to matted fur. She looks happier now - still underwieght but she gets fatter everyday and fur is growing back.
Her main characteristics her long grey fur, small body, flat face. RSPCA thought she was burnese but I don't think you get long haired burnese? She is orienTAL in some part I think - she has that loud burmese/siamese purr and clingy nature.
Any ideas? Am just curious.
Kate

Poor girly!!!
ET is beautful and you sound like you've been doing a fantastic job :Luv: Sorry, i'm no help with the breed thing at all :innocent:
-
Thanks FreeToGoodHome Helper. It is wonderful to see her demanding to sit on laps and feeling so safe. Yesterday she jumped up onto our bed for the first time and snuggled up with us.
-
Ahh bless her .. I wuld say she looks like a persian to me. Hope you don't mind I have "lightened" your pic as it was difficult to see before.
She looks gorgeous.

Without papers, she is a domestic longhair. Enjoy her.
-
Offically Des is right but suspect part at least persian or exotic, it will be easier to tell when her fur grows back.
She is lovely ;D
-
She looks like a blue persian to me. ;D
-
Bless! Hard to think of her as being something as "grand" as a blue persion when she is so thin and short-haird!
Perhaps I should change her insurance to DLH rathe rthan burmese - premiun might go down :evillaugh:
-
It should cos pedigrees cast more to insure.
Great you have insurance for her ;D
-
She is definitely NOT a burmese ... burmese have short sleak fur like a siamese and do not get matted. This site has some lovely pics of burmese and persians. http://www.photocat.co.uk/category/cats/cats-breeds.html
However like Des says without papers she is a a moggy (not that there is anything wrong with that ;) )
-
Insurance won't cover her heart condition as that came to light 3 days after I took out the policy . :-(
If only the RSPCA pre-insured like CP do.
-
If she is a blue persian - this is what she could eventually look like with her lovely coat grown back!

Her face certainly looks similar to the cat in the picture. What a pretty breed.
-
Just shown blue persion pic to OH we both agree she looks a lot like one.
Of course nothing wrong with her being offcially a moggy. just interested is all :-)
I stayed in a B and B recently and the owner had show Persians. She kept them in an outdoors cattery in the summer as they "malted everyhere"!!!
Poor little mites!! ET can malt where she likes..... luckily she does not fear the hoover.
-
Yep - she looks like a persian to me ;) . I would suggest you buy a baby brush and start stroking her with it so that she gets used to the sensation for when her fur grows back. My Mum has a blue persian and he was recently shaved. He has just passed the stage where his fur looked like plush velvet - beautiful :Luv:
Oh and Des - Foofoo doesn't have any papers but she is definitely a persian and is registered with the vets, microchip company and insurers as such. What would happen if she was lost - her looks would definitely identify her and by classing her as a DLH could prevent her from being found! >:(
-
I have been brushing her already with a special cat brush and she loves it :-)
-
Lovely to see ET :Luv: nothing like i had imagined tho! Shes definately of persian type. Give her a tickle from me and figners crossed she continues to amaze you with her strength
-
Bless her :Luv: I imagined her to be a shorthaired tabby, I can see why they called her ET now!

Me too :shify:

I would say definite Persian as well. With or without papers, a Persian is a Persian, a Burmese is a Burmese and an Oriental is an Oriental :sneaky: As CS has mentioned, her breed could distinguish her from another cat if found, if she was classed as a DLH and someone found her and handed her in, you would not be notified because they wouldn't be looking for a Persian. I really can't understand all this oh it's a moggy whatever without papers, I have a shepherd, if she had no papers, would she be classed as a mongrel  It doesn't matter at the end of the day if they don't have papers, it does not turn them into a moggy overnight, and being honest, who gives a damn whether they have papers or not unless someone wants for breeding or showing etc, but I would say looking at her, she is a beautiful Persian girl :Luv: :Luv:
-
I agree 100% with you Dawn.
-
Agree she looks like a blue Persian. Btw the pic Gillian posted is the absolute double of my Willow's mum :briggin:
-
Another in agreement here -blue persian and so pleased she has a wonderful home now .She is gorgeous :Luv2: :Luv2:
I have a blue and blue and cream persian - females(no papers -both rescue , one from Stockport CP and one from Chapelhouse persian rescue - Samrtie is a blue tabby persian -again no papers -Lincoln CP and Winston is Red and White with a pedigree thats in such a safe place - i have spent a week looking for it and can''t find it ( he was given to me as his owners didn''t want him anymore and he was a mass of knots and had to be completely shaved , and i genlty started brushing him with a very soft brush as apparantly he hated being groomed , he is now really good and has never had a knot since -6 years ago ) -
Its his birthday today i think -thats why i was looking for it.
So :birthday: to my Handsome , big beautiful son - my Winston -10 years old and his meowmmy loves him to bits.
-
The fluffs all send furry headbutts to Winston on his birthday :Luv:

I hav'nt read this thread till now...not having very good memories of ET I thought that nothing in here would be worth looking at! How wrong I was! :shy:
ET is beautiful..... :Luv: :Luv: :Luv:
:birthday 1: Happy birthday Winston.... :)

Happy birthday Winston. ;D ;D ;D
OH seems delighted with the idea that ET is a blue persian, i think he is thinking of the magic roundabout film "The Blue Cat". ET is curled up with him at the moment (like a typical cat she prefers the person who doesn't clean out her tray, take her to teh vets etc). :P
It is also useful to know breed for medical issues. I believe ET being a persion puts her more at risk of Feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy which is the condition she was diagnoised with in her first week with us.

OMG Dougla and the blue cat .... I have that on LP (shows my age) ... it was one of my favourites as a chld and I can quote every word of the story ... Buxton the blue cat. "Blue is beautiful, blue is best, I'm blue, I'm beautiful, I'm best!"
-
LOL I think ET has own theme tune!
In addition to her catchphrase "ET find home" ;D
-
Kate I've just seen this, what a fantastic photo!!
-
ET is going to turn into a real beauty :Luv:
-
Fingers crossed she will. With her heart condition we just don't know how much time she has - but she is such a little fighter I think it may be a while yet.
-
Lets hope she has many years ahead of her -Smartie has an enlarged heart and the vet has put him on fortekor for it - he is 11 years and hope he has many more left in him.
 for little ET

ET is on the same and doing well so far.
