This morning, Jess was purring away as usual. When I looked at her, I noticed her whiskers were standing on end - a bit like when you have goosebumps. They totally stood up instead of just dangling there!
Does anyone know why this is? I haven't noticed it before and it looks a little funny! :wow:
Thank you :)

No idea .... but as long as ALL the whiskers are doing the same thing I shouldn't worry too much.

I'm with sam but i had to laugh at the wee pictures.
With each hair we have on our body there is a tiny little muscle in the follicle, i forget the name of it now but this is what makes our hair stand up when we get "goosebumps" i guess cats prob have this aswell ???

I'm not worried about her, just curious :-)
Is the muscle piloerector or something??
It's just so funny when her wee whiskers stand up!

yeah that could be the name for them ...it rings a bell anyway !! LOL
i know what you mean, cody had funny little facial expressions he does, wrinkling his nose is my favorite, he seems to do it better than ive seen other cats doing it LOL

Don't know about anyone else but I've noticed that cats' whiskers seem to go forward when they're either happy (smiling) or really focussed...
-
Can't remember where I read it but its to do with their moods when they do that.

Cute! I hope she was smiling!! :Luv:
