Title: Any rescues need mums/kittens?
Post by: Angiew on May 13, 2008, 12:29:04 PM
Are there any rescues anywhere that would like some kitten action? Is is worth trying to get a litter action team in place to see if we can migrate some of these from area to another?

Angie we have plenty of kitten action, but will always try help in an emergency.

If I'm honest, I do have reservations about moving pregnant mums/young kittens, but if this is their only realistic chance of care/survival then I MIGHT be able to help Sat am:

OH is driving to Exeter... so looking at the map... he could make a detour south to join the M4 at Newbury (handover point) , then head west.

I do need to stress at this point, that he is working away from home today & I haven't been able to get in contact with him to ask if this is ok.

So just a possibility to bear in mind Angie/Lesley/ Koscha?

If they need to go anyhwere north of Coventry I might be able to help with transport. Preferably on and East Mids/Yorkshire stretch.

Brilliant. It looks like we have the makings of a plan here.
I've just been told that another of our foster cats is getting fatter (we've had her a couple of weeks) and the vet has confirmed she's over mid way.

This is so depressing - I've been posting some CP neutering leaflets as well - they are doing a good job advertising their services around coventry do not understand why people are so :censored:  :censored:!!

I know it's not much help now Angie but in a few weeks if the same sort of situation arises I might be able to help.

Unfortunately for these particular kitties I'm off on holiday in a week and Ian starts his new job on Monday so he says we have too much going on and I have to respect his decision.

The better news is that his new job is near Balsall Common so he won't be a million miles away!

Sorry I can't help any more than transport this time round.

Well mum and 4 kitens have arrived. So these are the family.

Mum is very soft and cute - though it could just be the hormones!

The kittens eyes are opening so they must be about 7 - 10 days.

I've had someone waiting for a tortie baby since last September - a lovely family who had one of my scrapyard kittens from Dawn about 18 months ago now. :Luv2:

Strangely we only have one mum and 5 kittens in our care at the moment. The only kittens we have had so far this year (famous last words)!) But i know that other branches are heaving.. Bexley has loads and more in the pipeline.

I keep looking at the title of this thread and laughing and then wondering how on earth a rescue could need kittens?

OK, I have just spoken to 'Mr Jasmine', he can do the run on Sat am, but it will be an early start (he has to be in Exeter midday).
This means any potential drop-off at Newbury would have to be at 9.30 sharp.

That's okay with me, I can be at Chieveley Services, just off the M4, A34 junction for 9.30 am.

Oh T - you know there are some nicer parts of this green and pleasant animal loving nation that actually do have kitten shortages and are sometimes quite desperate to acquire some for the local population - or am I not understanding your mirth.

works for me but I might have to leave the front door open and tell mr Jasmine to help himself ;)

What time pick up - or am I dropping them off the the Jasmine residence (which of course I will do if its easier)

Its such a hard life when you're 10 days old and have caused so much trouble.

Mum seems to have forgone the litter tray last night in favour of a bloody difficult place to reach in the corner of my room under the desk. I can smell it (which is why I went looking for it) but cannot get to it - oh well it will dry up in a few weeks and tonight however hot it gets in here , she is going to have to rough it with the kittens!

Let me just say in my defence, I woke up at 6am wih a thumping headache and took some pills (I get migraines) that were promptly thrown up.

I can drive with a migrane but try to avoid using plastic bags at the same time

have just got up as my mum has come round and am still a bit jaded!

 >:(

Anyway, glad they arrived so quickly and she has settled well - the turncoat!! :Luv2:

Thanks to All - so now I've got my pokey stuffed study to myself the emergency room free again and feel a bit more relaxed about the week to come!

Not sure if this will work, or what the quality will be like, but took a little video of Blip, Vienna, Kocka and Star last night on my new freebie video camera - here goes

(http://i245.photobucket.com/albums/gg72/eightlivesleftkittenrescue/th_DSCF0001.jpg) (http://s245.photobucket.com/albums/gg72/eightlivesleftkittenrescue/?action=view&current=DSCF0001.flv)

I'm afraid they just look like a mess of kittens - will try to get a better one over the weekend so you can differentiate them a bit better.

Any homes in mind yet?

I have someone coming to visit tomorrow, someone else on Monday and one of the ladies who had a kitten off me 15 months ago is interested in either Vienna or Blip, so when they are ready I am sure the homes will already be lined up, providing home checks go okay.  If none of the visitors I have are suitable, the lady who had George's brother, Dave, is also after two kittens and theirs is a lovely family where Dave is thoroughly spoilt so I know that would be fine.

Will try to get individual piccies of them later.
