Title: Trip to Canterbury- Sunday.
Post by: BigPaws (Rae&Missa) on May 09, 2008, 11:48:32 AM
Hi everyone

As some of you may be aware I am hoping to travel to Canterbury on Sunday (CP home check pending) to adopt one of the rescue kittys that were left homeless after their owner passed away.

If anyone has anything that needs to get to Canterbury Cats, or indeed bringing back up from there let me know.

*is really excited* ;D :wow:

Hi Mark

Yes I am.  We are leaving quite early as its a 3 and 3/4 hour trip (one way!!) but worth every mile. ;D

I am just waiting fo rthe CP check tomorrow morning so will let everyone knows how it all goes.  There should not be a problem but if everyone could keep everything crossed for me Id really appreciate it.

Im like a kid waiting for christmas.  Its been about 5 years since I had a kitty as I have been in the pub trade and my mum and dads cat was very much a part of me growing up (she was almost 22 years old when she had to be pts- and her name ironically was Weedy   :wow:).

Might be nice to make a day of it and do the cathedral etc - it's lovely. I suppose you will be too excited to sight see that day?  :evillaugh:

Hi everyone

We made the journey yesterday to fetch Melissa and it was worth every second of the 8 hour round trip!

Met Sharon who is fab and took some stuff for the kitties still waiting to be given a family of their own.

She is beautiful.

She is a very nervous puss.  She ran straight into the kitchen and managed to find a way under and up behind the sink, so the first thing we had to do was block off the gap with wood and mount a rescue operation!,

Then she slinked into the front room and hid behind the TV.

I got her out and she then got sat on the sofa where she eventually lay down and stayed next to my daughter for an hour and purred when she was stroked.

Then she hid behind the loo downstairs.

At about 11:30 I put out her basket, blanket and food in the porch next to the loo and put her litter tray in the loo.  I left her in there alone last night as it is cool and safe and dark.

This morning she had eaten 4 tea spoons of the tuna food (but sicked up bout 2) and she had had a wee in the tray but had done a poo next to the tray.  She has managed to climb up in the night onto the top of the  fridge freezer and made a home in the potato basket.  She is still there now and looks really funny peeking out from behind the veg.

I am now washing blankets. :)

I will take a picture over the next few days when she is settled but I think a flash might send her into a panic.  If anyone makes a move towards her she presses herself flat and looks so scared.

So day one was eventful to say the least.

I will see how we go and update later.

She is so lovely- Im still smiling and I cant even see her from here :)

Ahhh so glad it all went well and she has sort of settled.  I'm sure it won't take her long to clam down and realise she has a forever home.  Siamese's love people so she won't be able to resist you for too long.

You might find some of the tips on wizz's site useful (Bonding with your cat and timid cats) http://www.wizz-catz.co.uk/behavioural.html

Looking forward to the pics.

Glad you got your girl home  ;D
I would set her up in one secure room with no dangerous holes eg fireplace and let her take it from there. Too much space often freaks them more
